Interesting comparison, thanks Tom

FWIW, sticking my head above the parapet....
I liked the PT2016 best for both vocals and guitar, for drums the P100 shaded the ArtsAcoustic for me.
In all three I had the MVPro bottom...but I own it and use it regularly :)
BTW I did do the tests 'blind' before looking at Tom's answers!
Where can I find Warp's P100/A100, Google or a PlanetZ search didn't get me there, or didn't I try hard enough?

Thanks

Jonathan

@heizen33 that's pretty much exactly the soundprint of the PT reverbs, no wonder you liked that most.
Unfortunately I bought only one of the small versions as I had only a 4 DSP card that time.
The bigger ones are much smoother.

I can't come convincingly close to your u-he pling example (my 2016 has 8 taps, the 2036 has 18), but I can 'beat' the vocal with the same device, so the result seems quite source depending.
Anyway, for 149 bucks the UHBIK package is a great offer and seems really useful, thanks for pointing it out.
...the pt2016 was absolutely wonderful reverb sound , what do u mean he quit devices?
according to GaryB ...Paul Tanti used to work for Creamware North America and he used to obsess about reverbs. there were Scope systems in real studios at the time which were built strictly to run his reverbs, so the legends go...
here's a thread where someone asked the same question. John provided a contact link to Paul's reverb site, which is still online and you also can download demos, but the sales part doesn't work anymore.

cheers, Tom

yes, I also regret I didn't buy a 'bigger' version - admittedly I often neglect the device due it's enormous amount of knobs... shame on me...

( actually I would discourage anyone to download the old PT demos and use them under Scope4.
I seem to have a kind of a mess since then, that also affects other reverbs - I'll verify that and post it here... )
forget it - the problem is related to my system :-? :( :D

There was a free reverb called PT2012, I got it here on Z. I guess this is one of the Early First reverbs you're talking about. I like it a lot, it sounds completely artificial and exaggerated, but in a very musical way. This is the thread it's in: http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php ... lit=reverb

I also found a PT-free-96 K Beta on this thread, but I haven't tried it yet: http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php ... lit=reverb

And I second the recomendation to try out Hifiboom's RSVP reverb - it's surprisingly good!

BTW: Thank you Astroman for taking the time to do the head to head reverb test.

Cheerz,

T

:o kind of missed that one completely - or did I have it on the machine that went down the drain... ?
anyway - my apologies to hifi that I didn't mention his device
it's not teakable up to the details, but that's often an advantage if you need a good result quickly. This one is very convenient to set up.

heizen33's test-file shows an interesting side effect:
the pling sound get's very well encoded, but the reverbed voice becomes really harsh - imho by the mp3 process.

Here's another just in case you ever need a 5.1 surround verb.
I can't try that out yet, but I use it as a multiple reverb as it can have 2 stero and 1 mono layered when your not in 5.1.
I used an early reflection then a large stage/room and then the mono for the details.
But it gets a real nice sound and you don't need to use more than one.
Light on the resources too. I can load several with one 15 DSP card.

We want him back. this is the perfect time as xite is coming and lots of ppl here need pro reverbs(compare to sys6000 or pcm 91) currently l like p100 but sonic timeworks stop working with scope!!! p100/a100 came 4 years ago! i guess dirk(BX) also quit!! since sc is continue with scope and xite is coming i hope programmers should get interested so that we all win and do some business.
thanks

Well - you have PCM91 quality reverbs.

You could recreate them in Scope SDK, if he's gone for good.

just to clarify...
the meaning of coming soon on his site was already asked by customers when Paul was still active as a developer... :D
the site has simply been frozen since then

@warp I didn’t meant to say stw quit. But they didn’t done anything after p100/a100. and im dying for another great reverb after p100 or even better.i love to use p100 on vocals but sometimes I get bore with the same sound. even I thought about tc_vss3 but powercore has firewire which has flaws as garyb mention on a topic. And most of the developers here love to do compressor, eq, mixer .. modulation plugs and synths.though das has few good reverb. about pt2016 … I like the sound a lot. Wish i get one. And I like your idea if sc can recreate the sound. Who knows xite reverb will hell better.

You could try the DAS reverbs, if you want a different sound. Or you could even try a SSL Duende system.

I would imagine that new and awesome reverbs will be released on XITE because of the memory.
