I can't seem to get to any fx out of the monitor outputs.
How is it done?

return the fx to a channel and then send that channel out the monitor, just like you would with a real mixer.

ok then so what is the MnL&R effects returns for?
I thought that these route to the monitor outs and you'd just send the effects out to them as well as to your regular returns for the main mix, no?

I tried turning it off, by default it's on, but still the fx doesn't come through, that's what I don't understand.

Check out if there is input signal at your effect?? May be that you forget to turn the aux send enable.. (make it ON [light green] at the channel stripe of your track)

that's not it, the meter's move on the mon fx return, so there is a signal there, it just doesn't go to the monitor outs for some reason.
plus the fx come out of the main mix, so they are definately on.
