Any Updates Available for Scope 4.0??

Hi
Just wondering whether there are updates for Scope 4.0? I can't seem to find Creamware's site.
But let me add that Scope 4.0 is very stable on my system and I have had no problems whatsoever. Maybe my only gripe is that I still haven't got my head around the STM Mixers. I still use Big Mixer version 2 as I can connect my external Effects machine (Ensoniq DP 4+) in the Auxs. I still can't figure it out with the STMs.

To the best of my knowledge there are no updates.
The CWA site is now: http://www.cwaudio.de
You can hook up external effects using the 16/32 and 24/48 mixers as long as you have a spare stereo channel. Send the aux out to your FX unit. Then send the return to your stereo channel (not to the aux return!).
Hope this helps,
Johann

Most certainly you should send the effects back to the effects return. That way you won't accidently feed it back into itself and get feedback.

no G5 yet, still on OS9.2.2.
Waiting for CWA OS-X support...
mac sounding better?
what should I think of that? it's the same CWA card we all are using
Mac's advantage is the fact that hardware and OS are designed for each other, and that you can expect both are very good/stable.
I guess that's why there are no big issues on mac (no IRQ, HT, mobo, ACPI layer, etc. issues), at least not to my knowledge.
However better sounding...? no

as far as SFP plugins are concerned that is right - but CPU processed stuff seems indeed better (or different) on Mac.On 2004-10-14 10:06, firubbi wrote:

I've used the FM7 demo on PC and Mac and I consider myself (somewhat) competent for that sound as I have a TX7, TX802 and PLG150DX original Yamaha FM gear.
Everytime I heard it on the Mac I was rather convinced that it's a really good sounding app, while on the PC it was always kind of 'thin'.
Had this experience several times, as I just couldn't make up my mind to buy it - and now I don't want anymore due to reg hazzle

cheers, Tom

Mostly positive experience here. I haven't noticed the external aux problem either, but I usually use only the internal ones. The problems I've had here were:
1) OptiMaster crashing after a few reloads. Not really a problem, since I don't reload projects very often when at the mastering stage, I just save and recall presets. Also, can be solved by just reloading the software, which takes a few seconds more than loading a new project.
2) Some glitches in delays with tempo-based settings, where you can't select a value under 1/2T or some such. Trivially solved by using milisecond based setting (analogx has a really nice little tool to do the conversion quickly)
3) Kind of tweaky with games.
4) Older devices's preset stuff not working well with SFP 3 and 4. But if you save the project, you also save your patch, so they're still quite usable.
(and maybe some other things I don't remember, but if I don't remember them, they're probably not even an annoyance for me
)
This in 5 years using this platform. I don't know about you, but this is pretty exceptional in my opinion. The software is pretty stable, and I can have it running for days without any problem. I'm not sure how much SFP needs to be updated, it's mostly a few tweaky devices that causes problem. VST/VSTi tend to be alot less stable (it's a device-to-device thing I guess, some VST stuff is rock stable also) in my albeit very limited experience (I barely use 1 VST per project tho, I always end up using the SFP stuff
.)
So call me a zealot or a lucky guy (or a pizza, I'm kind of hungry!) but I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world. I wouldn't mind faster DSPs and some more memory on the boards to do big convolutions and FFTs and other dirty things, but my current 18 DSP setup lets me do anything I've wanted yet. Someday when I have alot of diskspace and a Koeniggsegg (or two) in the garage, I'll buy a second scope board and will be able to do all the 96khz work I want.
It's a pretty big learning curve, and some work to tweak the OS properly and setup everything, but, awesome performance not widthstanding, it has also been a really really worthwhile learning experience about signal processing and all those evil things in general, which is always a very big advantage when messing with digital recording.
The SFP software itself doesn't need any update, only a few devices here n there.

Sorry folks, I was confusing a couple of things -- a bug that Rogurt mentioned during the summer, and my own decision to use regular channels rather than aux returns (the reason for which I can't for the life of me remember). The two memories somehow blurred into misinformation... Sorry!
Anyway aux works fine. I only wish I had an aux brain.
