My 2nd machine (which houses my creamware cards) alternates between Ableton Live and Bidule atm, with both local sequencing and control from the main DAW. This could be a more straightforward alternative as well (although I should mention that minus the 'dsp card support' Steinberg's V-Stack works fine with just regular midi and ASIO drivers). Don't think 'instead of' SFP, think 'in addition to'.

Sorry don't actually use V-stack, I just know that most people seem under the impression that it *requires* systemlink (it doesn't).
Having inputs definately seems more interesting (one of the nice things about bidule but far from the only thing). I'm curious about their claims of "Support for VST DSP Acceleration cards." PDC seems to run counter to low latency real-time processing (especially of inputs). Think I'll grab the demo and see if there's a manual or decent help avail.

If you're asking if it will function as a software thru (like MidiOX) I'm not sure. I've only got Creamware cards installed on my 2nd pc. It does allow you to assign multiple midi ins and outs to a single 'alias' so its worth investigating (there's a demo).
I also found this in the manual:
"VMC does not support P4 HyperThreading enabled system. Switch off HyperThreading feature in your BIOS in order to use the product"
Didn't find anything about PDC or using 'dsp' based plugins in the manual. I'm not terribly interested in trying XTC with it but someone else is welcome to give it a go and report how well it deals with latencies (I'm interested from an intellectual perspective mostly).

I'm just curious if its a full PDC implementation. It just wouldn't make sense unless they expect you to play with insanely low soundcard settings to get decent latency--at 128 or 64 samples the number of interrrupts with the added dsp pci traffic as well could be a bit flaky i would think. Perhaps its intended for noncritical functions like sends (reverb/delay)?
Yea I know that software plugins can have latency compensation applied too. (PSP's Mixpack and Stereopack both have latencies for most of the plugins for example, even tho they're not all delay-line based). Played with it for a bit. Uses more CPU than Bidule or V-Stack & with only a VSTi (no other plugins) was getting crackles when moving SFP devices around on-screen. I'm able to run the same VSTi just fine in Bidule etc. Then I noticed that the CPU Priority in Taskman for VMC.exe was set to 'Realtime'.
