OK i promise to get over this and let it lie. However in the meantime i thoughtthis was quite amusing.

PS Well done Greece!!!!

Also I must comment that since I have been sort of following this tournament it seems that too many games end with a penalty shoot out. To me this seems a very dismal way to win or lose - a much "softer" ending thasn most other games trying to avoid a tie.
Apologies if this is a tiresome subject for footballers.

yeah this was a heavy loss for us swedes.
i bet a bunch of dutches will claim it was a fair result but... nah, either team was worth winning after a game like tonite.
too bad zlatan h a d to pull some kind of stunt, call me stupid but a football player with a €30 000 a month salary should NOT miss a friggin 7x2 meter target!
i'm an underpayed musician and a swear i've never missed a string even under preassure..

Ack, this was a heavy loss for us swedes.
I´m not going to say we "deserved to win" or we "should have won", because as far as I´m concerned there is no "deserve" or "should have" in football. If you dont score, you dont win, its as simple as that. But still, it was very frustrating for us to watch this game. In the pre match interviews the dutch players were very sure about their victory, and the dutch were described as the real favourites. But in the match the teams looked very even, and the dutch weren´t superior at all. It would have been soooo nice to shut them up, hehe
Both teams had great opportunities to score, and Sweden even had two (!) shots in the goal posts during extra time. Gaaah!
Ah well, I guess its Hollands turn to finally win something on penalt shootouts I guess
Sweden still producede the biggest bang in the Euro 2004 so far with their 5-0 win against Bulgaria, and I think for such a small country we did pretty good.

An eye for an eye, and soon the whole world is blind.

they say, now that we missed just one penalty, our national trauma has ended (the 'calimero syndrome').On 2004-06-27 05:44, Nisse wrote:

I don't believe it, we just were lucky

You can't change a trauma of about 20 years in one evening...

imho Sweden played a tactical masterpiece against Holland's ball artists.
They needed a strong and somehow destructive defense, otherwise once the oranje train would have caught pace Sweden wouldn't have had a glimpse of a chance.
If Davids leaves early that's a clear symptom
But since Sweden didn't rely on destruction only and played the optimum forward (considering their resources), they have my full respect.
I found the game rather dramatic, though the England versus Portugal style is more entertaining - no question.
cheers, Tom
