I cant believe there hasnt been a post about this yet, Im going absolutely mental with football hysteria

Congratulations to all greeks, your team opened the tournament with the biggest bang ever, beating Portugal. I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw that.

Anyway, who do YOU think will win the Euro 2004?

Oh yeah, ENGLAND meets FRANCE today in their FIRST MATCH (!)
Your countries must be going insane with expectations I´d presume

i don't have a telly, so i'll be out alot the weeks to come.

france-england... nothing beats usa-iran though (remember it as if it were yesterday  )

holland has been playing hide and seek and everyone thinks they're already out of the tournament, but they will get far. as long as they leave out davids. a disgrace to fairplay. if he's in, i'm an avid anti-holland fan

france, the best players around, period. and more, they're a team as well.

germans, well, germans will be germans

although the czechs might ruin it for them.

spain will never be a sparkling international team, i guess, although they'll make it to the second stage.

italy... i just don't get it. they have all chosen the wrong carreer. they should be in theatre, chess or karate. great players, but the attitude. always enjoy seeing them get a beating.

same goes for portugals leader figo. never liked the man his behaviour. great moves, but doesn't really add an extra to the team. where is abel xavier? love the sight of him.

kudos to the greek. skill and determination. they might surprise. i won the living room bettings yesterday. i knew greece would come out strong.

if owen and gerrard get it together, england might get some draws. but with ex liverpool goalie james... hehe. nice lad, but...
forget about beckham, just the same as figo... popstars.

i doubt if sweden will do as good as two years ago. in the WC 2002 they played some of the most exciting games.

now the russians won't have to fear facing a trip to siberia anymore , they don't have something to fight for.

switzerland, croatia, bulgaria, denmark and latvia are kinda strangers to me.

the finals??? greece-france.

disclaimer: all negative things said about players/teams are just that... meaning football players (soccer that is) are not real humans... it's another kind of folks. it's not aimed at people living in those countries. right? right!

game on!!!

Couldn't agree more.... One of the reasons I never got in too much...it's a world that I don't like at all....obviously I'm not happy when they are beaten, but it's not a tragedy..hehe

the final will be Holland-Germany, in the first minute it will get 1-0 for holland, then the Germans come along with 1-1, and at the end we'll loose by penalties...
we have a penalty trauma, we get yoghurt in our legs and mind when we have to take penalties.
The calimero syndrom I guess...

Hey Zezappa, what happened to Portugal? They played like crap yesterday. Were the expectations to high? Were they nervous? Scolari looked like he just wanted to go home while he was sitting on the sideline.
Portugal is very popular here in Sweden and everyone thought Portugal was going to win easily, we were very surprised.

of course i'm happy for greece since this was a really big thing for greek football! however i felt really sorry for portugal, i guess those multimillion players has nerves too.
i mean i can't be easy to live up to that kind of pressure.
which makes it easier for underdogs like, well, sweden

my guess is that france will be hard to beat, germany has an ability to always go far in big tournaments.
italy IS one of the best nations but will, as borg said, fall on their own sense of invincibility.
look out for: holland, england, sweden, greece and spain.

to be honest i'm really looking more forward to my "DFH superior" due tuesday than any soccer game right now

exactly. it was quite interesting seeing peoples faces change in a few minutes time.
ah well. france didn't really deserve to win. but england owe it to themselves.

a rather dissappointing match, btw...

Hi Nisse, I shall say I'm not a big fan and your points are very right and make sense but, for me, nothing special had happen, Portugal problem is that a lot of good players doesn't mean a good playing team as a whole.
And, in fact, with all the euro "madness" going over here the major part of the people forget how bad are many of our first league teams and they got now to much expectations that means a very big pressure on the players.
This people is simple and very easy to be manipulated so, the "media" got it done...

best luck facing Bulgary
