I know it's asked a lot of times but there's not been much advance with processors lately so what is the best chipset recommended for pulsar now, plus the memory and motherboard.Has been a while since I upgraded. Also what are the best hard drives now which dont conflict with busses?
Thx-sorry if it's already been asked.

yes, some stories on planetz horrify me, at least let buying a mac be a serious consideration for you who must choose yet.
check Sandrobs problems, he got the best pc, yet the problems can't be localised (if a problem can be either the mobo OR the fan, jeezzz...it could be your mother also).
No offend, let this be clear, but it's worth the mony to be sure about your hardware investment, realy.
ah, cold sweat when I see your list Andre, not mentioning the time needed to gather that (great) knowledge.
I really really don't have any problem with this:

With Macs you don't get XTC mode which means I will never get one. Also they underpowered unless you have a powercore.
I think you will be sweet with any Intel chipset mobo. Although Asus is a totally safe bet and no more costly.
If you're building yourself then I recommend you buy at least a 400 Watt power supply (or 350+ from enermax or other good brand) because I recently had a power supply problem when I installed my second creamware card. Computer wouldn't start etc...

what's the problem with Andre's list ?
he actually sells the same PC with 2 CPU clockrates and 2 memory variants. Everything else is identical
Nevertheless I agree on the Mac issue: if I consider only the time it took me to get my Win98 machine silent... let alone reinstalls and surprises the OS provides from time to time
cheers, Tom

Oh no, it´s another mac vs. pc thread
If u aks me, both have advantages and disadvantages. Imho it´no use discussing that.
Everbody should know what he/she prefers...
BTW getting back to the main subject:
I think 353W may be a bit short.
Better go fo the EG465AX-VE(G)(W) FMA.
Has 460W.
U never can have enough reserve..
Peace,
Otter

yes you´re right, depends on many things.
i just thought about it because i had trouble with power in my system( 300W/ PIII 1Ghz /Cusl2c/Nvidia MX 400 DualHead/ 2XPulsar 1x Luna/midex8 via usb) . i changed to 400w everything´s ok now.even if you don´t need the 400w, it helps to prevent spikes so the system gets more stable.
So if you sell it as a DAW i think it should be able to handle a lot of stuff connected to it.

Its not the tcp stack that's broken, but network permissions are too dumbed down for my tastes. On 2003-06-10 13:59, Andre Dupke wrote:

There are other differences as well...
Of course I never ran win 95/98/ME, I've been NT (for PC) since 3.51.
And as far as mac vs. pc goes, don't even get me started on SGI's woes (but there was a time when they were useful for certain tasks)
