Okay then, I could start with Pad Patches for Prisma and Saturn (good choice), next week, at least 20 for every synth. We have to sort out the presets anyway. The idea to write the instrument category first in the patch name is good, did you know that you have additonal informations to your presets? Just double click on the info bar of the preset list, there you can add your name and a description, enough place for us.
This is a splendid idea and even if I don't have much time over, I'd gladly contribute with a couple of patches.
Just a couple of thoughts from a guy with a cold in sweden:
Let everybody do whatever patches they want. Then it's up to Spirit to compile it into a nice Planet Z Collection #1.
I don't want any restrictions on making a special kind of patches.
I like the idea of doing something for a synth that has capabilities AND are not often used (but me... that is). I quickly explored the Prisma doing some radical tweaks on the presets - it was great fun.
I vote for Prisma and Minimax.
Cheers,
Carl.

This is a good thread but I'm a bit worried about the idea of 'filtering out the duds' - sometimes the best sounding preset can sound shite in a mix, and likewise a potentially lame preset can sit nicely and sound completely different when placed in a mix. OK I'm definitely for getting rid of any 'Space Cat' or 'Tweeting Birds' presets but let's leave some of the initially less inspiring sounds in.
Also as a possible free synth to do Neutron's Sonic Attack is simple enough to get newcomers into programming and Michu and myself have already done a load of presets for it.

and, please people, let us not forget FX. imho much more needed than sounds (and in some cases much more difficult).
but this maybe for another time.
i'd like the idea to just make presets you like, rather than sticking to one category.
no real preferences... maybe some old and forgotten classics (transplanet for instance).

I - as a potential user - would like ...
... the sort by name thing, and the categories in banks thing.

Anyone who wants to write a "mixed bank" is more than welcome. It's just that some people tend to have special talents or interests for particular styles of sound.
Kensuguro's idea of having each sound category as it's own bank sounds good - leaves plenty of room for 128 sounds of each type !
As soon as we finalise the synths I'll start a "who's writing what" thread
How long do you think we should allow for the patchmaking until we start compiling the banks ? I thought maybe two weeks ?

I checked out the Neutron Sonic Attack, and it seems like a good alternative to the Saturn. I tried to look for more presets for it in the preset archive, but I couldn't find any.... actually this synth had more appeal to me than the Saturn, so my wote is for the Neutron Saturn Attack.
The version here on PlanetZ is still "only" a beta3, but over joined forces might inspire Neutron to finish this project
Cheers!

Petal,
You'll find more presets for Sonic Attack here http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... forum=13&5 which I've just added a couple of new presets to and also included DeFex's and Michu's Banks (all properly credited so you can see who did what) into a sort of 'Super Bank'. Hope you like them.

The commercial synth is the Prisma.
I've made a new thread about who does what, where and how, here:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... 3&forum=10
Please reply to that thread or private message me with what you might be able to do and I'll add you to the roll of honour
The free synth . . . the vote so far seems close between the Saturn and the Sonic Attack B3 - with the B3 in the lead. There's also votes for the Miniscope WE and Minimax. Programming the Miniscope WE might be interesting: see if the free synth users can beat the Minimax
. There's also all the Hummel synths to consider: Avalon, Plastic etc.
Sorry to delay on the free synth decision here, but I think it's worth really thinking about all the free synth options and coming up with something that the most people will be happy patchmaking for.
The Saturn is a classic synth and with classic architecture. It already has a largish number of presets available. It allows for an extremely wide range of sounds - probably bigger than the B3. IMHO the Saturn is much easier to program, but maybe that's just me. Hugely keen supporters here:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... orum=16&17
The Sonic Attack B3 is certainly very different from the Prisma, so that's probably a plus. It also has enthusiastic supporters:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... orum=16&19
And Petal, TonyR and Michu seem ready to roll !
On the otherhand it's only a beta and if it changes again there's a chance the presets won't be usuable.
Final thoughts on the free synth anyone ?

OK, Sonic Attack B3 it is !
Here's the "announcements" link - please add your name if you'll be writing patches. A few people have sort of volunteered but I don't want to put you on the list just in case... Message me ?
