If the contests use non-free synths I do hope that either a.it's a synth that most people should have or b.there are alternates allowed for those who do not have and/or cannot afford the non-free synth.
As it is a purely Creamware-based tune is a bit of work for those who are dsp limited (and presumably sans vdat). Which means that the contest is skewed towards those who can afford more dsp (welcome to life). It would be sad to also exclude those who, say, could not afford the propack and yet still have a pulsar2.

As I said in that thread, I never expected to post an entry since I thought it almost impossible to compose anything resembling a coherant tune just using my Pulsar-II - I rely on too much native stuff for various crucial links in the chain.
But I thought I'd have a go anyway since there weren't many entries.
Although my effort's rather rough I must say I REALLY enjoyed it. It is liberating in a sense to be restricted. That sounds contradictory, but I think Nestor has touched on this issue in the past: You can have so many options sometimes that it's almost paralysing.
I did miss not having any decent drums
The Plasma may be free but it's certainly not my first choice in drums - in fact I think the CW platform as a whole is very weak in that department, there are no drum synths worth speaking about.
I also found myself caught out for the "better" versions of the Blue and Inferno. Although I had the Hummel version it was horribly corrupted on screen - I was desperate for some controllable white noise.
This contest also made me rediscover some of the Pulsar effects - beautiful. In some ways I feel like this was a "relationship guidance" exercise: I've got a new appreciation of my Pulsar
As for future contests, maybe we could choose just one synth and do everything (including drums and possibly even effects) with that. Pick a good one like the Lightwave or Prisma.
In that scenario it would be nice to think that Creamware could front up for a small prize. In return the songs could go on their site as part of the demo for the synth. They'd have to be better than some of the very spartan Minimax demo tunes I downloaded.
Surely this would be excellent PR and marketing for Creamware and a bit of fun for us ?
