Man, y'all work 'till the last moment! It scares me, to imagine the kind of quality we're going to get. I'm sure we're in for some surprises!
After earing your tune and others, i'm scared of publishing mine, in fact, i'm facing an inferiority complex...

Anyway, i'll still post my song, cuz even if experience is not there, love of doing it was there. Please,So just to keep 'some' hope, please avoid bashing!

My song is not ready, but I'm getting there. Mea culpa. I was too enthousiastic making the SX remote. I thought it wouldn't be too bad, cos 'the others sure would send something in'.

Let's see, if more people have songs to send in... You don't have to delay for me, but if there's more people who are a little behind, maybe it's a good idea to wait a little. I know it should not be done, but it's a little silly to close it off right now too IMHO.

Isn't anyone [better 'everybody' maybe] else working on a song? C'mon lads!

Sitting here working away still...about an hour to go =/

Btw just head the Noah Laux "Pulsar Jamming" tune. QUITE good, think it's my favorite entry so far.

Now let's see how much I can finish in an hour. If only I hadn't been bedridden for 3 days =/

Btw this is really quite a challenge since my 4 dsp's can barely handle the plasma and a dynamic mixer. Having to constantly load, bounce, unload and reload modules. =] Even if I don't complete it in time for the submissions I'm going to see how far I can take this. (I'll still submit it too.)

I feel sorry for you guys, your enthusiasm is... hmm dunno the word, but I wish you better
But to me (you're almost asking for respons now) it doesn't work.
You may remember a few years ago: Nick Cave refused a MTV award, tho he was very friendly and felt honoured as he said.

But I'll never forget his words, as about: Music isn't a match, so who can win?

But at the same time I know this contest isn't meant to be that serious, so I would like to make a positive suggestion here.

If the respons will stay this low, it could be an idea to choose every month a winner just from all the uploaded songs, pieces of sound, experiments, etc..
No limitations to instruments or whatever, just the 'song' or whatever piece of noise that made the biggest impression for whatever reason, is the pat of the month.

Wouldn't this be more relaxed for everybody?
You always have a large choice, the somehow unwanted element of competition is far in the background, and no one needs to feel restricted in his preferred creativity approach.

It's just my suggestion.
Don't wanne be a kill-joy, if you think next month there will be mutch more contest posts, give it a try, I won't come back in this.
Wish you good luck anyway

I'm not really feeling pressured here, I'm actually quite enjoying sitting here at home working on something out of the norm (from what I usually write) instead of being out getting plastered on Halloween. Deadlines schmedlines...it's still not midnight here yet =]

i started working on a song right after the announcement of the contest, but then i had this period with lots of other new and exciting or necessary things in life. i'll try and finish the song this weekend, but yeah, the contest??? if it's closed, it's closed. i'll definately upload asap, just for fun, and maybe others will hear what can be done with the instruments.

and as far as hubird's suggestion is concerned: imho a contest like you suggest might be just a too much, i guess. because, yes, music is not about who's going to win. we all know it's the record companies

Hi Hubird... I don't see this the same as you... For me, being only an amateur, and not having to meet deadlines is creating a 'too much comfort' thing. This contest, even if we don't win anything, even, winning was not the goal. For me it is more like a kick in the arse, just the thing a guy alone in is small home studio need to get to finish a song. I love music, but a rarely finish anything, i'm too busy just playing with knobs and making 'the most weird and powerfull setup possible' kinda times wasting.

So, it WAS a good thing for me. Even if my songs, well, wasn't at the same level of let's say Ken's one. No problem, i still had loads of fun doing it.

No pressure here, except the good, and needed pressure i put on myself voluntarily to finish the thing. And i did it  Hey hey!

I agree, this has been a bit of a challenge. I Stopped working on it last night when it became apparent that my lack of dsp meant I have to do too many 'phases' in the production--drums then bounce, synths then bounce, compress & eq then bounce, now i'm still needing to go back and do the niceties like add verb, chorus etc...

Still in the 3 days since I got well I've been about 10x as productive as before. I tend to share the problem of 10,000 ideas and nothing really concrete finished.

Just as a hint... I quit those bouncing around completely when i got VDAT... This solved all my bouncing and recording problems once and for all.

Hey guys,

I think you are taking this all too seriously.

I had about 2 hours free time to do the song I posted to the contest. So I concentrated on getting some good sounds together and just let the thing flow. Surely, I could not have done a whole supernice popsong in that amount of time

For me it was all about boulding some nice sounds to work with, cut down to the basic (stock) pulsar stuff.

This isn't a contest of whos being bad or good, not for me at least, it's just about making some interresting sound/noise out of the options you are giving.

This is just pure fun, and if am lucky, I can listen to some of your songs, made just with stock pulsar stuff, and learn some deferend things that I just didn't think of.

I had huge fun exploring the Inferno and BlueSynth versions. Made them do sounds I never thought them capable of. It takes me ages to finish a song, so maybe I`ll post it later, I`ll finish it slowly. If ever....

Well, there's always the Christmas contest... or the new year's contest... or the Valentine's contest.. That's like one every month.
This is cool, though. Like we can pick a specific synth for every contest. (even non-free synths) Then, it'll help the makers promote their stuff, while the community can have fun. Especially the free stuff. This is a great way to say thank you to the developers I think. They'll end up with a bunch of great tunes to demo their synths!
