What if I broke my ankle riding home because I was distracted by a girl carrying a Pulsar box ?

I'm not keen on the chatroom by like Il Duce's idea of a OT forum. Some recent threads might include:

targa laptop
The ultimate home mp3
Silkscreening CD covers
I just have to say
Drugs and music
War here again
broken ankle
"people" pictures

much as I think the OT forum would be appropriate, (I'm one of the more OT people, I think) the whole place does seem a little cluttered. Not to say that the newer forums are inappropriate or anything. There's just lots to be checking up on.

Cutting down wouldn't be a solution... there must be something.. I'm just don't have a very good idea right now.

John, I understand your fear of being regarded as a fascist.
But, I think there lives smart people on that planet and if we had an OT forum, people would start to post there. Sooner or later. And everyone would kindly inform the POSTER if someone posts to Pulsar forum something about ...eh... family problems
(On some forums I've seen a link "alert moderator" for OT and unsuitable posts, but that may be too offensive)

Ok, I took the plunge and made an OT forum.

Lots of forums, huh? I'm wondering if the "Creativity" forum should merge with the general discussion forum now...

yes, i never saw much difference, and now that OT forum exists, it can be more music related.

I second that. Oh, and some more drinks and chips over here too. Who's taking the minutes ?

Oh, and perhaps the entire "Pulsar Device DSP Usage and Pictures" could just be a link to a page with those forums in it? Of course that would make it even less likely people would post, but then for the number of posts it does have it takes up a lot of main forum page real estate.

Well, I *am* planning to redo the main entry page. Remember that old Pulsar.shtml page? How many of you actually start there, rather than just coming directly here?

My idea is to make the entire site 100% integrated with the forum community.
These DSP Usage forums are a step in that direction, but shouldn't be displayed in the main discussion forums area.

We'll continue to evolve here. Hey, if I did everything all at once, it wouldn't be as interesting right?

John:

I was going to send you an email requesting an OT forum and now I just found this thread. I think it's a good idea. Regarding people sending you emails about offensive posts perhaps you could put a sticky note up requesting no emails (for that topic). I don't want to encourage flame wars but if people don't want to read them they could just avoid that topic altogether. Some of us are not so sensitive.

For the music purrists:
If we get an OT forum, you will not even have to bother sorting OT threads from IT threads.

I have one concern about the chatroom:
Maybe too much problem solving will never be accesible to other people, than those online at that particular moment. A lot of problems might be dealt with quicker however (but again more times, as I will not know, that Nestor found a solution on the same problem yesterday, as I have today ... thru the chat room.
I don't think, I will use it much either. The internet often takes a bit too much of my time allready (one reason, I have been away for some weeks), so I will likely try to stay away from another nice reason to spend some good time with the PC. And I mean good time - it is all nice, but I need to take care and balance it, so I don't get too little time with face to face (as opposed to "monitor to monitor") with my local friends.
