A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

If you are in the EU, one can use Extended Security Updates, ESU for annother year of Updates for free (requires Microsoft online account)
You can also pay M$ for the 3years extended updates they provide (this time ESU is for end users, too)
You can dual boot into Win11 for internet Access (and offline-install software in Win10 audio system)
You can use https://0patch.com/Win10.html to have windows10 patched "on the Fly in RAM" while running ; costs 25€ ($28) annually..
You can use win10 ltsc or Windows Server, but that means reinstallation;
You can use Flyoob to do an inplace Win10=>Win11 upgrade (peferably on a copy of your HDD, keeping your running setup intact) even on unsupported hardware with all your programs still installed (you need to disable the KI stuff afterwards, e.g. with https://github.com/zoicware/RemoveWindowsAI).
You can start over with an audio-optimized Win11 via https://atlasos.net/ (plus Windows tweaks from NI, Steinberg etc. plus guru3d Tweaks like https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/a-tri ... us.453523/) => thats's what I did

Thank you !
It´s all only compromises and workaround s##t.
I don´ want to pay MS and I don´t want MS online account.
What comes after 1-3 years extended support ?
It´s time to move.

Linux on PC for Office, Apple for audio/MIDI.

I think about selling XITE-1 now and use SCOPE PCI 32Bit (v5.1 and v7) on ancient WinXP and Win7 Pro machines.

doable?
maybe. i don't know, sorry.

new plugins do what old ones do at this point(mostly).

no, m$ is not likely to attack your machine. try running an update in win7. nothing happens.

yes, defender will be updated through 2028, at least that's the word right now.
otherwise, you can just use another antivirus and ignore defender. if the other antivirus is the default app, the defender does nothing.

MS won’t make it stop working, but there were patches for XP that made it extremely annoying. And yet look at how many people here used that for so long.

There’s plenty of documentation about how to block the telemetry and other systems in Windows 10 that call home. The easiest way to block outbound traffic and let it through temporarily is rules on your router. A good third-party firewall will also do this in software.

If you’re running and out of date operating system, you have to at some point accept that commercial software may stop supporting you. I still run logic on a very old Mac Pro, I simply froze all plug-ins to the last versions that worked, and surprisingly some developers still support that operating system which has been end of life by Apple for over a decade now.
