Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Any recommendations for a 2 channel stereo mixer?
I want a really small super basic mixer.
The "micro mixer" is still 4 channels input.
If I make one in Modular it'll have four outputs.
All I want is two stereo inputs and one stereo output.
(Why small? I'm trying to keep my routing window tidy and save MIPS)

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Funny. I was just browsing the small modular mixers today, but I didn't find what I needed: A tiny modular stereo output mixer with an input for each channel's "CV" controlled balance/pan. I.e. I don't need a pot for balance/pan control but the option to modulate/automate it.
Maybe what you're looking for is something like the St Mix 2: http://cwmodular.org/mixgain-mix.html ?
I managed to do a workaround, covering my needs with a couple of VCAs, a CV controlling VCA-left and an offset inverted copy of that CV controlling VCA-right, but if you or anyone else could build and share a tiny stereo output mixer with balance/pan modulation, I would be grateful.

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Try with frequency modulators. These apply strong modulation to the signals. I think they are named pitch modulators in the modular

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Thanks. I did a search on modulators and found the panMod here http://cwmodular.org/mix-modulator.html.
This seems to cover my panning modulation needs. I will try to use it in my patch tomorrow.

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
yes the panmod is the one.
if you use the pitch modulator i suggested leave headroom with an attenuator and see you signal on an oscilloscope. It does good amplitude modulation

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Here are two things you may want to look at:
Wavelength Mixmaster should be small enough that if it loads earlier in your project it won't overlap DSPs it's in "Wavelength_Synths-BestOfRepack-072520.rar" (attached to this post) under \Wavelength Synthesizers Best of Repack 250720\Wavelenght SC7 must be install in Mixer folder\Mixer Wavelenght\ note there are also two older versions of SpaceF's Vectopr mixer in that same subfolder.
A simple download is "Wavelength Free Bundle Part 4.zip" which also has the same exact version of the Wavelength Mixer (also attached to this post).
I would defer to SpaceF to go beyond what is in these zipfiles at this point, his mixers are quite capable.

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Thanks Valis. The panMod was exactly what I needed, but I'll check the Wavelength stuff out later. I haven't used my Spacef Modular Mixers in quite a while, but I may have a look there too.
Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
In the modular Mixers, the "MB" might be helpful, but not exactly tiny. There are also some "mergers" which are extremely tiny mixers if the output master gain is not needed. May be too tiny (they are made to merge signals before an effect).... None has pan modulation (it would require adding internal LFOs etc and I have a tendancy to overstuff this kind of devices with tons of modulators, so at the end they are not light at all anymore, eventhough it starts with good intentions
I started a tutorial for making a tiny mixer based on this thread but lost the recording (deleted by error). I think I still have the device in the pipes... what are the specifications ? I could try to finish it, re-record a tut... (I make no promisses though because i must concentrate on other stuff).

I have been working for a while now to produce mixers with minimum screen footprints,
I am in the middle of developing a number of mixers to meet this need.
Here is the most basic one that should meet your need.
Press the 'Cntrls' button to get access to extra controls and to add Fxs.
I have not done a lot of testing as yet, so if there are any issues with the mixer please let me know.

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Thank you Maus,- these look great !
Would it be possible to get 3 or 4 stereo input channels ?
best,- Bud

I am building a family of these mixers 2, 4, 8 ,12 and 16 stereo channel models.
Most are done, still working on the 16 channel version.
Also have not really tested them as yet.

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
How are they for phase lock on the PCI cards?
Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
Unknown at this stage.
Haven't tested them for phase locking, sorry.
I am about to release the first versions, maybe someone can check on phase issues?

At a 1st glance, 3 - 4 channels would be good for me.
Currently I´m using "Mix3S" (see attachment) for summing of 2 small mixers and WAVE Out in my latest XITE project.
It works, but your new creation is more advanced in regards of control.
Meanwhile I went away from using a single big mixer.
"phase lock" on PCI would be great too but I guess it´s no biggie on my XITE-1 once the device is manually assigned to a dedicated DSP.
I´d don´t use for tracking/mixing,- instead I´m using for my hardware keyboards (A16U/ STM1632X), Scope synths and VSTis (ASIO 2 Ch.) on Scope MicroMixer,- and media player (WAVE).
That´s 3 stereo channels input for the summing mixer,- and when I´d use VST (ASIO) separately,- I´d need four channels.
So, I can´t wait trying a 4 stereo-channel version in my project !

Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
How tested are the current versions given above (Mix2)? I'll check phase.
Re: Tiny 2 channel mixer?
I have run all mixers and tested most functions (controls, inserts, channel disabling, midi, presets, etc).valis wrote: Fri Aug 15, 2025 8:46 am How tested are the current versions given above (Mix2)? I'll check phase.
I don't think I missed anything but you never know.
Look forward to phase checking.
Thanks
