SCOPE restarts computer when using Mod
i've had this problem since i started using FleXor. However, it may not be related to FleXor, it may be just that FleXor is making me use Mod III more than i used to.
Anyway, the problem is,seemingly randomly, if i load and unload a lot of Mod patches in SCOPE eventually i get a fatal error and not only does SCOPE close, but my computer completetely restarts itself. What the hell is that? As you can imagine it's quite disconcerting. What could it be?

I don;t know if that has any relation but: some flexor modules put a little stretch on the machine. I remember 1 year ago i greated several patches with several shapers (5-6) which when i wanted to reload the patch some times refused to load. It just locked SFP not restarted the system. Sometimes it was random (i could reload them after some trying)
I experience total crash only with STS, and sample oscillators which i avoid to use since then cause i have a feeling that it harms my system.

I have the exact same problem, did you sort this out eventually?Mr Arkadin wrote:i've had this problem since i started using FleXor. However, it may not be related to FleXor, it may be just that FleXor is making me use Mod III more than i used to.

Re: SCOPE restarts computer when using Mod
There's a pack of 'all' 3rd party modules on 'modular corner'. With this installed mod2 & 3 will frequently bsod any multi-cpu or multi-core machine I have. I'm guessing this is due to legacy modules dating back before 3.1, but have no idea what it's from really. This wouldn't apply to Red's Flexor modules, but if those are installed (even if not loaded) they caused some very strange behaviour in Scope for me...including instant bsod on loading of the mod shell.
Re: SCOPE restarts computer when using Mod
It also happens with Modular 2
Most of the time Scope needs to be closed because of a fatal error, the BOD only happend once or twice. Any suggestions.
Here are the specs of my computer (works stable for 4 years now):
Intel P4 3GHz (hyperthreading) with 3GB Memory
Windows XP Professional SP2
Mainboard: Asus PC4800-E
Sequencer: Cubase SX v3.1.1.944
Sound Cards:
Scope Pro 14 DSP with SFP 4.5 with it's own IRQ (I use the driver version 3.1b because the driver that comes with SFP 4.5 freezes my pc occasionally but I've also tested it with that driver with the same results)
A16 Ultra
Echo Gina 20 with driver version 6.11
I have the following USB decives connected:
Novation Nocturn
Akai S5000
Nord Modular G2
Steinberg Midex 8
M-Audio Midisport 4x4
External Harddrive
Dell Monitor (usb hub & cardreader)
iLok dongle (connected to hub)
Syncrosoft dongle (connected to hub)
I hope it will work eventually because Moduler 3 and Flexor are the main reasons to buy Scope. I have the Scope system for 3 weeks now and overall it runs very stable.

Just downgraded to Scope 4.0 with the same results
See image for error message. I also get this error in Scope 4.5.

Re: SCOPE restarts computer when using Mod
Start simple, backup existing projects and your keyfile(s) plus a copy of both cset.ini & scope.rgy if you haven't already.
Now that that's done, have you installed 3rd party devices (not just modules) that weren't packaged with Scope or in .oxe files? If not then there's something else wrong.
If so I'd suggest a clean install of Scope to see if the problem persists. If Scope runs fine off a fresh install, reinstall things one by one paying careful attention to when the error appears, and hopefully you'll find the problem.

Re: SCOPE restarts computer when using Mod
Well this is a blast from the past. Well i can say i still have this problem - i tested just Modular patches without FleXor and the same thing happens. However to achieve complete Scope death i have to load and unload many Mod patches. Of course if i'm trying out a few to find a sound i like then this will happen a lot. i think last time i did this it completely closed Scope, but at least my computer doesn't decide to power off now. i have never had those splash screens you get though, it just closes Scope completely. Easy enough to restart but of course my sequencer loses its ASIO and goes mad.
So no, not fixed. i am hoping that Scope 5 may finally address the ModIII bugs.
btw there is NO difference between Scope 4.0 and 4.5 operationally, there are just more devices in the 4.5 package, drivers etc. are all the same.

Re: SCOPE restarts computer when using Mod
Yesteday I spent 2 hours loading Modulars without any crashes. What I did was loading 4 empty modulars and every time I wanted to load a modular patch I would replace the empty modular by dropping the Modular patch into the empty one in the live bar.
As soon as I started deleting Modulars and adding new ones the crashed began. Seems like an acceptable workaround for now.
Maybe you could try this also Mr Arkadin to see it that makes any difference.
