Well I'll be getting Xite anyway as it's far too tempting and that will surely come with v5

But I gathered I'd still need this upgrade for my current cards, so a bonus really especially also considering the current economic climate/exchange rate etc.
and of course not forgetting I got to use of the excellent extra devices, stability, etc on v4.5

Are you talking about his 3rd party devices Stardust?

I didn't know that *specific* details of the software that comes with XITE-1 had been released. We know some basic details, but I didn't know we knew exactly what was going to ship in the box.

I have observed that some forward thinking software companies do allow a user to install their products on more than one machine, say a desktop & a laptop. Such as FXpansion & BFD2. It does require a certain amount of trust between company and customer, not necessarily a bad thing. I would be mildly hacked off keeping my present cards, buying an Xite and then having to fork out for the big hitters again to use on both systems. I am aware I did not purchase any extra Scope stuff per se, only one single user license per item.

Slightly hypothetical scenario envisaged there. I guess one of the main reasons I'd keep my present cards is nostalgia. Like having a vintage Bentley. You might not drive it much but nice to have in the garage as backup.

Decisions, decisions. I thought this was going to be simple :roll:

I would have thought as Xite is so powerful to transfer Synths, Modulars and some Mastering but I was reckoning on leaving some Mastering on the cards so as not to strain Xite ( :lol: ) but I'm unsure what is a good idea really.

And as the 'soon' marketing strategy has me wanting Xite immediately especially with the promise of an introductory price (which helps with cost of the transfer of devices) I doubt I'll be waiting to see what other Xite owners reviews and experiences are.

A shot in the dark but I doubt I'll regret any decision

Time to ponder the new setup I think

Oops, they have indeed released quite a clear picture of what XITE-1 will ship with. It comes with the same (or very similar) suite of plugins to what the 14 dsp Scope Professional cards have been shipping with for several years + (you would assume) the xtra completely new plugins that SC announced, which were new EQ, Comp & reverb plugins. As you'll see from the list below the big hitting software packs (Mix&Master & Synth&Sampler) are included, which is exactly what you would expect.

From the SONIC CORE site :-

In SCOPE XITE-1 included software and plug-ins:
  • * Configuration software (v5)

    SONIC CORE DSP Plug-Ins:

    * Mixing: STM2448, STM4896, STM 48 S, STM 1632, STM 16 S, Dynamic Mixer, Micromixer, Channel, Meterbridge, ControlRoom
    * Reverb: MasterVerb Pro, MasterVerb, MasterVerb Classic, Early Reflector
    * Dynamics: Compressor, Limiter, Gate, Expander
    * Filter: GraphEQ, Parametric EQ, 4-Pole Filter, High Cut Filter, Low Cut Filter, DC Filter, MIDIPole Filter
    * Chorus: Chorus, 4-Tap Chorus, Harmonic Chorus, Hexa Chorus, Master Chorus
    * Flanger: Flanger, Harmonic Flanger, Master Flanger, Space Flanger, Random Flanger, Step Flanger
    * Phaser: Phaser, SSB Phaser, SSB Modulator, SSB Mod Delay
    * Delay: Delay, Ducking Delay, Pattern Delay, Multi Tap Delay, Delay LCR, Delay Long, Dual Delay Long
    * Mastering: Dither Shaper, Stereo Expander, Softclip, Spectral Balance Control
    * Distortion: Distortion, Overdrive, Tube Drive, TQ Drive, Resonator
    * Modulation: AutoPan, AutoWah, Tremolo, MIDI Tremolo
    * Tools: AuxRack, MultiFX, Deesser, Ducker
    * SpecialFX: Vocoder III, Ringmodulator, Pitchshifter
    * Synthesizer: SB404, Poison, EDS 16i, EDS 8i, BlueSynth, EZSynth, miniscope, U KNOW 007, Vectron Player, Inferno, Lightwave, Prisma, Arpeg01
    * Sampler: STS-2000P, STS-3000, STS-4000
    * Mix'n'Master Pack 2: Optimaster, PSY Q, Vinco, Interpole, VDAT, Vocodizer
    * Synth'n'Sampler Pack 2: Minimax, Profit 5, B2003, Modular III, Vectron, STS-5000

Very true. We know nothing.

Well, even if you've spent over 2000 euro on plugins for Scope - over the years - I doubt you'll get much discount for a unit with less (or NO) plugins. In fact, I doubt very much that you'll get ANY discount at all, since you're paying for the state-of-the-art dsp hardware if you buy an XITE-1, not the plugins. It seems to me that the huge array of plugins bundled are merely an amazing bonus & big fat juicy carrot to attract new customers to buy into the platform (the same applies to Scope PCI cards). Ok we, as existing Scope users, maybe see that amount of software as an essential, but I don't think any other dsp platforms come with such an extensive suite of plugins.

FWIW, I also think that people asking SONIC CORE about trading in their old hardware is pretty pathetic as well. Do other major dsp audio platform manufacturers do trade-ins? Show me one of any significance that does....

No wait a minute!!! Stop the bus!! I get it now! SONIC CORE should offer existing customers a ladder scaled 10 year grace period dating back to before they bought the platform rights based on what software you purchased before it was their company... What a brilliant idea!! They couldn't possibly lose out by doing so!!

Take me away... I need a padded cell. :lol:

Personally I want it all, it can only be good to get a cracking new box of tricks et al as an addition to what I already have.

I'm also in no hurry to get rid of my current equipment just incase the files don't port over exactly or my projects don't load the same. Presets and load order have been a nightmare. I know it's a fiddle but I've worked hard to get them in a state I like em and to think of possibly losing any of that, arrrrghh. No.

I'll try and be porting stuff over for sure, I'd be crazy not to with the expansion of DSP but it's like whenever I've upgraded my DAW, I've found bits missing or didn't work the same.

At least when I port over and expand those working projects I'll be able able to do so with greater gusto for experimentation safe in the knowledge I've still the original if I screw it up.

I'm also sure that with the expanded power of Xite, I'll be too busy enjoying building up new uber projects for my amazement

Plus having my current cards built into another machine just leaves more possibilities or have I already said that :lol:

But we'll still have to wait and see what Sonic-Core have to offer. There could be untold carrots on sticks, enough to make everyone happy and why not, with an excellent procduct and the correct marketing this stuff will sell and sell IMHO, beats everything else hands down (albeit on paper so far and on a few reviews), so why shouldn't Sonic-Core honour their devotees.
We've stayed loyal with the platform for many years, encouraging others to join in, expanding their userbase for free and we've devotedly brought all they've had to offer. That's gotta be worth a tonne as not only have their dedication to the platform but ours too, has kept the dream alive and kicking.

So maybe 'soon' we'll get to see.
