I'am between :
Yes - when I've saved up!
Yes - when there is a cut down version/cheaper!
I've been dreaming about nearly unrestrained power for years, just do the math of the price / DSP ratio of old vs XITE-1 : it's a no-brainer !
The it's too expensive in the poll could maybe replaced by : I can't afford it because I don't think it's too expensive for what you get ...
I've no plan to keep my 6 DSP card but I would like beneficial keys tranfert since I've got a lot of them ! so a bundle naked XITE at a lower price then pay some acceptable money for the transfert then dump the 6 DSP at a low price.
Waiting for add-on gear especially for connections expansion : a big plugs box with lots of ins and outs ( including more MIDI ) connected to the XITE then you process / rout in Scope V5, could be also a multiwhip smaller box to gain room and more ports.
Well anyway I'am very confident in the current SC dream team and I'am sure there will be very exciting gear offers and awesome plugs to come !!
By the way, I think those new chips offer not only brute crude power but also new coding dark powers that won't be compatible with present cards so one day we'll have plugs that will work only on this new gear.
I hope they won't restraint themselves at some point when enough people will have bought the new chips range of products, sure it will make some waves when the first XITE only plug will be announced

keep cool guys
the whole story is not yet written.
maybe the old scope 14dsp and smaller cards will get obsolete due to higher production costs over the time (normally chip price drop with time, but if extremly old they may even raise again because of the lowered request)and yes they may easily replace the older cards with a value kit lets say for 1000€ and with the power of 3x14dsp for the entry level using a newer chip.
the most important thing for me is: the new owners of SC plan to continue with the whole platform as it is.
They showed this with the announcement of the XITE-1 entusiast platform.
I am not afraid that more hardware and software will follow up.
nobody needs to migrate instantly, because software seems compatible. So you can keep the old cards and just enjoy.
They still work so fine!
This all lets room for a very bright future.
Buying modern, new plug-ins won`t be a bad investment as you still will be able to use the licenses once you migrate to the modern chip hardware.

hahahhaha... hifiboom youre too funny...
ok, i'll wait till june ... but will buy the better one.
i sure this preamp is not good as apogee. but i guess its hard for sc to come up with 5 different model !
1. xite-1(the current model)
2. xite without preamp
3.xite with 32 adat i/o
4. xite_mini
5. xite_2u with all features...

I am 99% that SC did almost everything correct. And i promise that this box will be a full success.

No, I won't be buying it.
I don't understand enough of what I've got already although 6 DSP's is a pain at times!!!!
Me & the missus have decided that there aren't enough years left to pack in what we want to learn, do & achieve any more, so I'll give this one a miss until:
1: I understand everything about my current rig (plus Scope 5.0)
2: I've exhausted writing every track in every genre that I've ever wanted to write with my current rig (and mixed it all to perfection)
3: I need more stimulus and need to progress using Xite
4: I've done all the other things in life like getting over the fear of flying, seeing the fjords, climbing the Matterhorn, skiing the Hanenkahm in Kitzbuhel, learnt to swim, become an ordained minister, given up smoking, cut down sex to 6 nights per week, grown the perfect tomato, tasted every malt whisky (not far off that one) ............... etc.
5: Until my wife says I can spend the money.
It's a big list

With the new hardware, 88.2K/96K operation will indeed be much more practical.
The old hw functions horribly unstable at 96K, and many modules do not even load, like the SBC. It is too big to load on a single Sharc DSP @ 96K, and for mastering tasks upsampling makes sense.
Scope sounds great at 44.1K/48K though which is where I stay at the moment.
If you are really paranoid about it you could record at 96K and use r8brain Pro to downsample to whatever, at the mixing stage. This way, an A16U could pretty much be on par with anything made by Apogee.

I was really in a fear of loosing my base-system and getting an outdated socially isolated (only human contact via planetz) retro-gear-(scope)junky within the next years, but now it is sure, that for 10years I bet on the right horse and that of course there will follow another 10years. We are in contact with the future & I think that this is so straight and good, I can't believe it. Scope is a rock in the storm!

There's no doubt that high quality reverbs like Warp69's can be used, but hopefully several of them.
PCIe should fix that old goat for us.
The AES/EBU I/O's w/ a new Bricasti Model 7 have me tossing and turning at night.
Yeah, yeah,...the economy is bad, the dollar's down....good. That usually means more people come to Nevada to drown their sorrows.
I look forward to Gigastudio 4, a new truck, new President, new Solaris, and an XITE-1.
I think 2008 will be a very good year.
This will be the ultimate live host for DSP based performances and recordings, no bout adoubt it.
UAD and PoCo are fine recording tools. But they can't possibly have a comeback to what these guys have been cooking up.
I wonder if Frank Hund has any suggestions,......Plugiator 2 w/ a higher quality plastic casing .......made in Java !!

While I think UAD is really quite underpowered for its time,
that old graphics card?
the Powercore is not really "so" underpowered. For its tasks it seems to have a good pack of power.
If I would have to decide between the two I would by far choose the Powercore over the UAD. Especially because I am a reverb sucker.
I don`t thing TC needs to bring new hardware, they now have the X8, which has a good amount of power, I mean who needs to load more than 5 VSS3 reverbs on a project ...
Maybe someone who has unlearned to use aux channels for reverbs.
The work cases with a Powercore a quite well covered, as it is not such an all in one solution like scope, where the power is much more essential, as Scope is a complete-studio-replacement: and you need to split for synths and fx and all the other gimmicks.
just my 2cents
