Scope sound stopped
Scope sound stopped
Hi I sent a similar email to below to Creamware on 2nd August but had no reply yet so I am still without sound.
Hi
I have scope fusion platform version 3.1b Under installed hardware it says
(I put a number which starts with a Y)
where do I find the hardware serial number? Or is above it? As a lady I cant lift the computer and open it.
1.Can I upgrade the software?
2. I cant get ANY sound at all. I had sound for everything and then when I switched on NOTHING. I have run Norton virus checker and there don't appear to be any viruses. I have tested the speakers with a tape recorder and they work fine and also tried other speakers. When I open for instance Acid Pro 6 and play a wav file it shows the green line moving up and down on the meter ok. It pops up a notice which says error..."This output device driver for Creamware Midi in/out 2 does not exist" and "This input device driver for Creamware Midi in/out 2 does not exist " When I try other programmes eg wavelab 5 or Cubase SFX 3 or even windows media player I get no sound.
I have looked under device manage and sound and it says the Scope is working properly. Under properties both under audio and midi it says the driver is enabled and functioning properly. Under driver it says it is 1.50.10.0 and it is not digitally signed. Under volume it says no audio device. Under device volume and speaker settings everything is greyed out. Under sounds when I try to test a sound by clicking on the volume icon no sound is heard under the various categories.
If I go to start/accessories/entertainment/volume control It says "thereis no active mixer device available
3. Can you send me a registration key to save my endless putting in all those numbers. My emal address is (I put my email address)
Thank you
Please help a damsel in distress.

it should be on your card itself, but then you'll have to open your computer yet...
Don't be afraid, it looks more complicated than it is.
If you need to get out the card to read the code, then check carefully how the card is fitted in the PCI slot.
At both sides there are 'catchers' which can be wiped to the side.
Ask help from someone, most computer owners are confidential with this.
Never touch the 'golden' main contacts of your (or any) audio card, as static electricity can reach tenthousends of volts, which can easily destry one of the processors on the card.
If you send that number to ralf[at]soniccore.de, he will send you the socalled Allkeys' file.
This file can be 'imported' during installing, just choose the Scope pro install version to be sure you don't miss a plug that the former owner had.
You'l only be able to get the plugs installed which are in the allkeys file
I'm on mac, so I can't really help you with your pc problems.
Alas former-Creamware-now SoniCore never got OSX support ready after they got in financial trouble some years ago (Sonicore is doing well, but needs some time yet).
A mac would spare you some typical pc/Windows problems, as it's much more plug'nplay, but I wouldn't dare to recommend you an older OS9 bootable G4 mac
About your problem:
Don't panic, just read carefully the manual.
Learn to set up your own basic project with the in- and- out modules which you will use in your computer studio.
It will be much easier when shooting problems if you are sure about your Scope SFP project and how to handle it.
PMake sure the drivers ( Midi and ASIO) are on the right place.
Always start SFP first, then the sequencer of your choice.
If you don't, your sequencer will not see any in- and out modules- of SFP, it checks for it only at every startup of the program.
Just in case you don't know, your card is a DSP card, like f.e. the well known UAD card also, it needs to load the project in the DSP chips that are on your card (three if I'm right).
Without a project loaded your card is just a thing in a PCI slot.
(The advantage of DSP is: your card calculates it's processes by itself, without needing the C(entral)P(rocessing)U(nit) of your computer.
Which is nice, as VSTi's plugs are demanding these days.
Also DSP calculates realtime (as opposed to buffered cycles of the PCU), just as outer hardware does.
Start a new project, learn to load the ASIO and Midi modules.
You will find them in one of the main menues of SFP.
If loaded properly, your sequencer should 'see' them (depending on your sequencer's specific) settings and methodes.
The modules are representations of the hardware in- and ouputs (audio in/out, Midi) and of the software in/outputs (ASIO, Midi-from/to-sequencer).
The hard- and software in/outs need to be loaded in a project (in DSP thus) to be able to work!
After rightclicking on the ASIO input module (ASIO: Audio System In Out') you can choose the number of audio channels which you need, but I'd suggest to leave it with two at first, when checking out your system, to keep things simple.
Learn how to connect 'cables' between the SFP mixer of your choice and the loaded ins and outs.
Connect the mixer's main Out to the Analog Out module, and connect your outer amp system to that analog output of your card at the back of your computer.
Sorry if I seem to underestimate your knowledge, better too much than too little
It's holiday time, but one of those extremely skilled pc friends here will help you soon.
Be prepared about questions about IRQ, Standard Windows installing, Hyperthreading, and more.
Do a search for IRQ here, as it's a crucial thing to get right.
First of all, get your project set up, as it makes help much more functional
cheers.

The problem is no sound. I only talked about registration as I thought it might help to reload the software.
The steps I have taken are as I have written above. Copied again here. I have spent a week trying to get sound. I do hope you can help.

can you take a screenshot of your routing window and post it?
none of those steps you have taken have anything to do with your problem. the windows speaker control is NOT connected to scope. scope is not a traditional sound card, and a virus is unlikely.
what about the scope mixer? is it showing level? what modules are you using with cubase and did you have them in place in the scope routing window BEFORE opening cubase?

HI
I am sorry for delay inreplying but couldn't open Scope at all ssee post on this. Then I had to learn how to do screen capture so I bought Snagitt. So now I can take screen captures of whatever you ask. Here is the selction I have done so far
I am so grateful fo ryour help

well, if you have no sound out of the card, and your powered speakers or power amp is connected to the analog outs on the cable whip, and you see level in the mixer, then the problem is almost certainly in the real world(speakers off, bad cable, wrong connectors, wrong wire, etc). if there is level in the mixer, it MUST work....
you are seeing a sample rate in scope's sample rate window, yes?

ok, pesha migth describe the whole path of signals a bit more in detail:
- where is incoming audio plugged into (which cable goes into which jack)
- which software is used for playback of which source (scope synths, local wav files etc.)
- which program uses which drivers/devices
- which physical output is used to connect the speakers
- are other sound devices installed (onboard, for instance)
- do the meters in the scope mixers show anything
- are channels muted (something I run into every now and then since I have muted some ports in my default project
)
-greetings, markus-

I'm sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.

the question is: are the speakers connected to the scope outputs at all? because if there's another soundcard in the game (onboard, for example) it would explain a lot...garyb wrote:sure, that'd explain why no sound was going into cubase, but not why she hears no sound from either synths or cubase..
ah yes, and are those speakers passive or acticve?
