But I have started to think about the possibilities in the way the envelopes work. And you're right, it would be quite cool to leave the right note hanging and continue playing with shorter release while the first note still plays...
Just out of curiosity I tried this on my other va's. turn up the release, strike a note, then turn the release down and see if it adjusts the release in real time. all three of my other va's did. the minimax didn't. that is kinda odd. however for me it's not something I would probably ever need. the minimax is an awesome sounding synth but does have some peculiarity's. but nothing that would make me unhappy with it. If this is a feature that you need then maybe this is not the synth for you. If anyone is interested, my other va's are a nova2x, a virus b, and a microq.
Say this technique worked - or rather - how could it?
example:
I strike a note. i adjust the decay/release. it responds/doesnt respond.
What happens when i press the next key?
Are you saying that on your other VA's, say it has 6 voices. if you press 3 keys in quick order your envelopes applies to all notes playing? in my ears thats just plain chaos!
i admit i might be misunderstanding this one. i actually hope so
piddi, all i did was turn the release up, press a key and release it. now turn the release knob while the sound is still sustaining and see what happens. the value on the minimax changes but does not effect the sustaining sound. where as my other va's do. if you turn the release to zero the sound stops sustaining. no big mystery, the way the minimax is functioning could actually be a good thing. say you had a sound sustaining and wanted adjust the release "on the fly" the new release setting wouldn't sound until you struck the next key. all of these envelopes function in a normal acceptable manner. no chaos here, just slightly different.
Hello guys,
The creamware env's work that way. Flexor Envs work the "common" way. I prefer the envs to update (to act like actual signal and not pointers...) in realtime. But it's not a bug, it's a different behaviour.
Be cool
