hi emzee,
No, for 'Batman Begins' Hans used the Solaris v3.0 and a new custom synth (based on the Waldorf Wave) which I made for him.
(I will be selling a smaller version of it next month - please check my web site for more info.)
cheers,
Is the Scope platform starting to NOT ! die?
The only time your SCOPE will die when you stop making music with it.
I still have creamware first generation tripledat ISA card on win 98SE in a PII and I still use it. it is exactly 10 years old and still use it. It is NOT dead because I can still use it.
rumors about new Scope generation are only rumors. By the time CreamWare decide to build the new scope. the 200MHZ chips would be old and I am sure the new Scopes will be on the latest and greatest out of analog devices.
However my bet on the new release is about 10-12 months away.
So until then. keep making music with the cards you have as they are not absolete and are still SOLD.
Sometimes I wonder who starts these rumors and why.

I would recommand to buy a mainboard that still have more than 1 PCI slot (in case you need to upgrade to 2x SCOPES)
Some mainboards are listed here are considered decent and stable by the pros on planetZ.
here is what some users have tested and approved.
AMD
msi neo2 platinum 939 with AMD64 3000
Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro with AMD64 3200.
MSI K8N Neo Platinum with AMD64 3200
Intel
Intel D875PBZ
intel d865perl
ABIT IS7-E2-Intel® 865PE
P5AD2-E Premium--Intel 925XE chipset
--------------------------------------
In my personal Openion, what eventually will make this platform "dead" in its present form (Standard PCI) is the inability to find a mobo on the market with at least ONE PCI slot (5 volts).
And so far PCI slots can still be found on mainboards
.
I believe mobos for the next 2 years will still contain at least 1 PCI slot for your SCOPE in case someone decides to upgrade to the 5.0 Ghz CPU and 5 gig of RAM.
my advise to always look at the positive side of things and try to always find solutions.
OR
get stuck by waiting another 1 or 2 years to see where CWA scopes are or the PC market is.
Then you will be missing what almost everyone here enjoys.
I have multiple DSP cards on older machines and they are doing their jobs. I don't have to keep up with the latest and greatest hype otherwise I would not have bought anything (PC and/or DSP cards). There is always something new on the market every few months, and always what you just bought becomes old and if I keep waiting for the so called one and only I won't get things done.
there is lots of people here giving FREE advice. I would have paid $$$ for this info back when I started with PC's.
You can always seek the advice of happy users of course as they get things done. There is always the negative post here and there and don't let this type of people discourage you.
And then work it out and see what your priorities are now and see what you want to do for the next 2 years and execute your plan accordingly.

yes. well i'm still planning on getting the 14 chip card, if i can ever sell this drum machine... My mobo has several PCI slots free, but it may not work with the CW's, in which case I'm going to swap out with that Gigabyte board.
I'm just feeling so uninspired lately..i haven't actually finished a song in a long time, i've been very busy working and being a new father... i've even been thinking about liquidating the remaining (very few) pieces of hardware i've kept altogether and stopping altogether.
when i was in highschool (11 years ago) i had an emu emax2 (which i just sold last year) and was making a tremendous variety of different types of tracks... i did not think in the terms of electronic genres as we have today... then as my gear collection grew in size and complexity, i became enamored by the dj lifestyle and now everything i write sounds like utter garbage... it's all the same.. and it isn't even "good" the same..
unless it is on acoustic guitar and vocal...
