Spirit,
The chain of islands known as the Outer Hebrides has a population of 27000.
The main town is Stornoway, 10 miles south of where we're hoping to buy 2 properties in a week or so's time. The population of Stornaway is about 7000, similar to the housing etstate we live on in Stoke.
The village we're trying to buy is called Shulishader - there are 2 pictures of it in the alphabetical listing link. The village has less houses than the street we currently live in.
Do we know anyone there?
We've been in touch with a builder and his wife (we have a chance of having houses built for us by him too)since December of last year. We nearly bought a new bungalow off him in January but the timing wasn't quite right due to bereavements back home.
The other people we are in touch with are the ones who DID buy the bungalow and they're great too. They've been there 3 months now and said they'll never come back.
Basically we can sell our semi-detached house, with 3 smallish bedrooms, get out of the squalor of this city (voted the worst in Great Britain last year) and buy a 5 bedroom detached house up there with land attached.
We can also pay all our solicitors and moving costs etc and still come out of it with a profit.
Borg - this is our biggest opportunity yet and has taken a lot of consideration - please don't buy the house we're after

I'll look for a lighthouse for you once we've moved in.
Having said that - what would your end-product tracks sound like if they were mixed and mastered in "a chimney" ????
Stardust - there'll be plenty time for contemplation because the weather is ..... 3 seasons in a day, sometimes in an hour. But the culture and the people are wonderful.
As they say in Norway - there is no such thing as the wrong weather - only the wrong clothing.
Huub - We'll need those curtains - it rarley goes dark in summer.
