Pro Reverb - in Hardware??? ref. Timeworks A-100
Yes I know about PCI and Mac, the Mac will have Cycling 74 stuff on, and whatever else looks interesting, this involves OSX, not 9.
I suppose a Powerbook would be fine, but this is another thread I suppose. Midi it in and run the lot into the (working!) PC set up. (This is a treat when I get some more cash!).
Just fed up with PC tweaking!!! While I know it is not difficult to change a mobo, how do I know I will not mess up everything else, and have even more problems to contend with? We are supposed to be making music. I have read so many posts from people with techy CW problems, and also heard about the demo (in Canada or US music equipment show) where CW staff turned up, and even *they* couldn't get their PC to work (!). This might be about the time the press stopped writing about CW...
So the LAST thing I want to do is... rip apart my fine PC to get one effect to work. These tweaks didn't help run the A-100 (thanks anyway everyone!), although it might be slightly 'better' (who can tell?).
I don't think 'pros' use CW much, certainly not in critical areas where clients might be looking over their shoulder.
Although I am still a great fan of CW for 6 years, and have spent a ton of money on them... but that's another story.

I hated my VIA chipset on ATHLON 900 a few years ago
it WAS a nightmare
BUT this is not just due to the fact that you are on a PC... After the Athlon, my 100% intel system (1Ghz) worked FLAWLESSLY. The new system I just got (3Ghz with Foxcomm mobo) has no problem whatsoever.
So... It does work well on PC, no tweaking necessary (surprisingly I haven't tweaked anything in XP and it works great)

geoffd99, resoectfully i would say that i hope you will be happy in the future whatever you do, but your cwa experience was doomed from the start. i remember when you first got your card in that same computer back before the cwa forum was dismantalled, before the new cwa website and the reorganization. you never believed it would work then, and you insisted that your asrock(ASSrock as in cheap, poor quality worthless for daw use, but ok for internet surfing) motherboard was sufficient even when i told you that although you could make it work(which you did), it would never perform well. for roughly $50 and a few hours and a day's reinstall of all your software properly, you could have had a nearly flawlessly working machine that made you money for the last year, just like i have had. instead you have continually doubted that it would work even while thinking about buying other cwa cards 'cause they sound so good. now because your crappy motherboard won't support the wonderful(and inexpensive) reverb you just got, again you want to blame the $1000 sound card instead of the poor quality $40 motherboard that it's running on.
think about it. spend 1/2 the cost of a g5 on first quality pc parts. that is a VERY good and stable machine if put together according to directions. think about it, the other 1/2 of the mac cost is skilled labor and advertising to put a top quality pc in your hands. think about it. if you by a new mac, you'll have to reinstall all programs you have or buy, anyway. think about it. you could upgrade the parts you have for a fraction of the cost. if you just don't want to deal with it, send it and your money to me and i'll send you back a working machine that is useful. seriously....
if you are hypnotized by new product there is no stopping you anyway, so i wish you happiness...this much i CAN assure you however, if cw had a demo that wouldn't work, then it was something that would have been catastrophic to ANY computer, i.e. power supply or hd failure or the like, not because there is a soft or hardware problem. you are repeating heresay made by a troll in the old cw forum, a trolls paradise. i bought my first card 5 years ago. it has been in 4-5 different computers. the ONLY time i didn't have a reliable functioning system was when i first bought my card and my first mail-order pc to put it in. it had a VERY cheap FIC mainboard. the moment i began using a first quality board(a few weeks later), i had a stable computer.
use good parts, follow instructions, avoid cracks and warez and you'll have a solid workstation.

I agree with you GaryB, despite having a cheapo mobo (which incidentally the pc shop recommended) - cost was not issue - it all works fine, except for this one reverb. My post was about finding an easy workaround, which seems to be impossible.
If I change the mobo, it isn't my time used up, the shop will do it, so that is not an issue either.
It is just a desire to not do any more hacking to this (wrong mobo) PC. If I got a Mac, I would not put CW etc on it anyway, I intend to leave my working CW cheap mobo PC as it is, and use the Mac as the recorder, and try out the Mac only music software. I am a big fan of the CW system.
As far as I know production orientated CW users use it for the synths, and us home hobbysits use it as an all in one 'playground' for experimenting and generally having fun. So perhaps we are pushing the system too much anyway.
What I mean is, since the A-100 isn't working (and they are not replying to support or any emails at all in fact),I have been messing about with serial effect chains, and have had a lot of fun.
Getting off this endless computer hardware topic, I am interested in this Behringer reverb, kiminet, have you used it in dual channel mode, do you get 2 x 'top' reverbs, or is it a subset of the effects? I am about to find a local shop that has one on demo (not easy).
I appreciate everyone's time on this hot topic!

Hi all
well if anyone is still there, the new foxcom mobo is working fine, all Scope OK, I had to download Six String and Minimax again as they corrupted somehow, but I can now run A-100 and I-100 at the same time, all seems fine.
Wow!
I also bought an Imac G5 (in a frenzy of credit card bashing) and have been exploring the world of Mac music. Cycling74 Mode looks good, if I can find a free VST / AU / RTAS host - since GarageBand 2 doesn't do it.
Any Mac tips anyone?
THANKS all for help
