Interpole...AWESOME!!!!

Well, CW finally got the demo ready...and it's incredible! I hadn't been able to check out MiniMax much because the demo expired prematurely (I didn't know then I had to close SFP to stop the demo clock). But I got a good chance to check out Interpole. CreamWare deserves high praise! I used ModIII oscillators to it, and I compared it with PolyFilter. PolyFilter is nice, but of course Interpole is far better. Bravo!

I only had two complaints: the output from Interpole was very soft, and turning up "drive" only turned up the volume and didn't do any saturation at all. Also when Filters 1 and 2 were unlinked, the cutoff on Filter 1 controlled the cutoff on Filter 2, and I couldn't control them separately. Is that the way it's supposed to work, or is that a bug? It makes having dual filters not too useful. I just used link mode and left it like that.

Oh, one thing that's really cool is that the filter envelope is controllable via MIDI, not just input volume. It makes it more like a real synthesizer, although it's only monophonic (of course).

I'll probably save up the extra money to get MiniMax, however -- why not have the Moog oscillators as well?

CW's come a long way from the old EZSynth days, haven't they? I can't believe they're actually still selling that old stuff.

I totally agree... It's the mother of all filterz, soooo smooth, it will turn your knees to jelly. I'll experienced the same drop in volume that you do. It's a bit annoying. But anything else from sound to functions rulez.

I had my hour with Interpole and like it very much. I recorded 20 tracks with the interpole before the time out. I hope I can arrange a track out of it.
When I have some money left I will buy it.
A briliant sound and many possibilities.
It is a good chance to support CW.

Its sound is excellent indeed! Already owning the MiniMax, I should have known what to expect, but it still suprised me in a positive way. Apart from being a wonderfull filtering device, it also works great as a, dare I say it, warming up device. Just set the cutoff to max, add a little bit of resonance and drive to taste and voila, whatever you're running trough it, it will just sound better. All IMHO of course, so check it out yourself.

PS Shayne, at first I also thought there was a bug with linking/unlinking channels, but it appears there's a seperate link switch for each section, so you can individually link or unlink the LFO, EG, or filter section. That's some great flexibility me thinks!

I think the price is pretty reasonable for the quality you are getting with this filter. Do you have an alternative that provides better quality for less? If so, I would be very interested in hearing about it.

In fact I tried it today and well ... 50 $ is the max I would spend defintely ...

Huffcw : it's just ... 100 $ for one filter, no thanks ... I played with the D-filter demo today, 35 euros if I remember well, 8 filters types, more features, had decent fun, item sold !!!

Also Ohmforce's Quadfrohmage : 149 euros but soooooo much features it's a steal !!

I won't say they are " better " : I love them and since the sound & features / price ratio is fairly good I have no problem spitting the cash !

Also will work in some John Bowen synths !!

BTW, buy Solaris : it's UNDERPRICED !!!!!

for those of you who think it's too expensive I have to strongly disagree. got my copy today and am totaly loving it. Got the output of my a4000 sampler patched into it playing some raw analog waveforms I sampled, and it sounds amazing.

Hook it up to a controller and feed it some nice source material and you've got a killer sounding synth.

I agree, they should have at least included high- and bandpass filtering. The D-filter is on the right track

Buying Interpole meant I could get rid of my mutator for at least $700, so for me its still very much worth $100 because of how good it sounds. Dont be fooled but just the lopass, this thing can do a lot. If you really want a hardware comparable filter I'd get interpole. then get d-filter to enhance it.
