I would like for us to tell each other how many stereo tracks everyone is able to reach.

I personaly can reach (without using plug-ins at all in Cubase) 28 tracks.

About 20-22 tracks in Logic, 24bits stereo wavs.

I say about 20-22, cuz the way they are routed in Logic seem to affect the count.

I get 32 tracks in 24bits with vdat without a glitch.

Hello!

The maximum I have tried was 15 @ 96/32 in SX with the minimum ULLI setting. No pops, no clicks, no glitches. But I think my PC could do even more.

Hi There!

I remember a few years ago, I pushed tripleDAT on a PIII 700MHz + 512MB PC100 + Adaptec+Seagate U160 SCSI + Pulsar II Plus and gone as far as 48 stereo tracks with 4 simultaneous effects (triple effects).

Compared to my old Pentium 200MHz + 64MB + SCSI-2 = 18 stereo tracks, zero effects and slow graphics rendering...

Oh well... I forgot to say my tracks are 16 bits... to reach all this... Of course, I use too 24 bits, but I can reach a maximum of 10 or 11 stereo tracks.

Wow, I am impressed! However, I would not be able to understand a lot of ancient Greek, especially when it is pronounced with the Erasmian and not with the modern Greek way.
I feel sorry that I dont know anything to say in Dutch!

something like: sing for me, o Muse, the man who helped to destroy Trojan city.
First verse of the Odyssee epos.
As you knew already I think.
I had to learn those stuff once, but now I hardly understand a few words of it.
Wasted time (learning old language I mean), I could have written many songs in that time

BTW, today I got a postcard from Rhodos Iland today, I guess you're born there?

Well, generally it is not one of the most useful things to learn a dead language like ancient greek or latin...however, if you speak it then you can learn more easily many other modern languages (as most of them are latin-based and contain an awful lot of ancient greek words too!: for example, Muse=Mousa, Music (which is what the muses do)=Mousiki  )
Yes, I am from the sunny Rhodes Island. I hope you liked the postcard!

those languages are quite useful when you're in hospital and the doctors don't want you to understand their talk...

@Immanuel: I dont think so
@Astroman: true! :smile:

...I think we have fucked-up Nestor's topic... Sorry Nestor
BTW, why are you asking about how many audio tracks one can record simultaneously? Do you need more than your PC can handle?

Immanuel: 28 stereo tracks seem A LOT to me! But maybe for others they might not be enough... I never need more than 16 stereo channels maximum...but thats me...

Nestor has a big thread going on about buying a new PC - he wants more, and does get it too

Wow! Reading all this was like travelling around the world and coming back to my chair…

Don’t worry guys, be free… it’s better.

I need more tracks cos I work with only one Pulsar with 4 sharks. If I had… let say 15 or 19 DSP, or even 10, things would be completely different. I am forced to bounce by now, to be able to build complex atmospheres. This is the why I need more tracks...
