I have a 4 track drums recording (bass drum, snare drum, high-hat and over heads).
I would like to use a noise gate (to clean up tracks from unwanted leakage). But I want this noise gate to be EQ-conscious. I would like the gate to be triggered only by some frequencies (for example, in the snare drum I dont want the noise gate to be triggered by the high-hat leakage). How could I set this up with the SFP modules?
I did try this one time with compressor in SFP, which I wanted not to react to the bass freq too much. So I put one output of the mixer trough the compressor as normal, and a second output trough a highpass filter and into the compressor sidechain. Now the compressor will only react to the signal on the sidechain, but since this is basically the same signal as on the inputs, minus the frequencies you filtered out, you can influence the behaviour of the compressor. I guess it works the same way with a gate, just feed a "copy" of the input signal first trough a filter/equaliser and then to the sidechain input.

Thanks King of Snake for replying! Unfortunately, I am not at home to try it... I will try it next week when I will be back. But as I understand, it is not possible to do it with insert fx in the mixer. I will have to load the effects as separate modules and do afterwards the connections.
Hmmm, I don't know. I just checked with the Vinco and you can still set the sidechain inputs when it's loaded as an insert. Wether it actually works I haven't been able to test yet.

As long as the device has the sidechain input selection on it's panel, you can set it from there. If the input cannot be set from the GUI, then you don't see it in the project or livebar and can't use the sidechain.
To select the input from a device panel is a neat option No 3rd party as far as i remember offers it, while all Creamware stock dynamic effects do.
