Hi all,

I will post a query to Creamware if this isn't something very simple.

I just purchased Six String and installed it, but I think I've buggered up the installation or something.

When I load the device into a project I get an error saying: "Can't find DSP file MIDI Voice Control 16 MP - Please check installation"

The device will actually load up but I won't be able to send midi to the device at all.

Does anyone far more savvy than me know what I've stuffed up?

Don't worry. I'm an idiot.

I need SFP 3.1c.

Will install that now. *embarrassed look*

Not sure yet how I feel about the accoustic guitar emulations, but I really like the leads - very playable.

And the ethnic varieties etc. are also pretty cool.

And I like the basses very much.

Definitely a worthwhile purchase. I bought the thing without even trying the demo which is very unlike me.

'just got six string : i'm quite
disapointed ... not so good : poor emulation of acoustic guitars ( at least not better than sampled ones as annonced by creamware...) ; i 'm really wondering what is the advantage/originality of this synth...
it's a very common one , isn't it ?
any opinion welcome...maybe am i wrong...

well, it's not too difficult to emulate a guitar, but even Creamware didn't succeed in emulating a guitar player yet

I don't think that much of the accoustics either, but I really wanted it more for lead work.

My brother (seasoned guitarist) laughed when he heard it and said it sounded nothing like a guitar. But a seasoned guitarist is unlikely to be fooled I would think.

I love the sound that the electric versions can get whether it sounds authentic or not.

and there was that film score where they used a gated synth pad because the director wanted lots of electric guitars, but the speed required was too high to properly play a guitar

I thought generally the electric model sounded better than the acoustic -- but that's probably because the electric model was covered up with distortion, whereas the acoustic model wasn't.

Does 6-string work easily with a MIDI guitar such as the Roland system, or is everyone commenting playing with a keyboard?

BTW, does anyone here have experience using a MIDI guitar with SFP synths? Can u use it concurrently with a keyboard controller to say dial in resonance and envelope, and then modulate cutoff with a Wah type of pedal?

thanks,

Usually CW stuff work very well with guitar midi controllers.....I remember that Bosone posted something recorded that way with SixString in the music forum....

of course you can send midi controllers, both from your midi guitar controller and, if you use a midi merger
device of SFP, another controller, as a keyboard.

Try with any synth for SFP, and you will have an idea.
