I get one to plug with a Pulsar Plus (balanced I/O) and a LunaII (1 pre send to left + 1 post send to Right) and many other routing possibilities. Clean sound and good mic/line pre Amps. A must and I couldn't find better (in that price range).

Why a mixer for recording vocals and guitars? A good preamp would be a good choice.
If you want many tracks at once, this one is analog, and your Pulsar has only one stereo analog in. So consider a digital mixer with ADAT.

I use a Mackie mixer for Mic PREs and then connect the insert outs to an Alesis AI3 ADAT module hooked up to Pulsar's ADAT ins. It works very well, but it probably isn't the most cost effective.

well, i have the pulsar II plus, so i got 2 analog balanced in/outs,so i thought that at the price that i can afford my self, i can get the ART tps pre-amp or the behringer ub1204 pro mixer, i think that with the mixer i get more opportunities and i'm sure that at that kind of price range the differences in quality are minor...

is there a mixer (at that price range) that can control the pulsar/cubase mixer with midi?

thanks

I've faced your problem two months ago and my option was the UB 1204 but I use 2 mics, a bass, a synth and a drum box, so the pre amp lacks my needs. (and for 170 Eur what could I get better? )
I also think that more important than a little better mic pre-amp is a good microphone instead. However, the DBX minipre or 266XL, Joemeek MQ3 or VC2, TLA
FAT-1 or Ivory 5050, Focusrite Trackmaster or Penta, ... all very valueable devices but price range is increasing... and can ever be added later
Finnaly a mixer with midi control the Event EZ Bus, but another price range, this.

good choice

I don't use a MIxer. Instead I use the A16 and a couple of patch bays with many small patch cables. I am very happy with this system but I have to buy a mic preamp.

...but you've probably spent a bit more than 170 Eur

DBX Mini-Pre could be a good choice for U...
For more channels, the tascam ma 8 seems to be an interesting device...
For me, Creamwares STM together with any multi-channel AD-DA converter are mixer enough.

iv got luna breakout box conected to a mackie 1604. This works great for me because it lets me have several instruments ready for use/record at any time. Its also a must when i have other musicians over. we can jam and wright songs without any hassle. iv got two mics connected to my mackie one for vox and one for accoustic guitar, and iv got one guitar and one bass pod connected aswell.
the mackie also offers a great preamp alternative to my blutube.

so my point is get a used mackie mixer it really makes it easy to expand your system and use it in different ways

"Its also a must when i have other musicians over"

What can you do with your Mackie that is not possible with STM-mixers??

We are jaming together over STM and I did a lot of recordinx (inclouding talkback and monitor-mix) like a 5 man punk band without an external mixer (I sold my mackie 8 bus )

you must love mouse mixing.

a half decent external mixer is a great extension to your CW rig once you get setup and settled...

digital works well too.

I would go for an Event EZbus digital mixer.

It has ADAT input/output - is also functions great as a control surface via its USB midi and regular midi outs. It can also bring a midi controller keyboard in via midi - as well as do USB audio (not that you really need the USB audio with a Pulsar system running).

The mixer is ultra flexible both as an actual digital mixer and as a midi control surface. You can program it to just about any confirguration.

This is an excellent, quality mixer at an awesome price. Plus - Event is offering a $100 rebate through the end of January.

Real pro-mixing on ub1204 ?!
Hhmmm...
Lets come back to topic
We are talking about behringer ub1204 eurorack...

In my opinion, you have to pay a lot for a mixer (and cables) to get A 16 / STM quality..
The most "payable" mixers will decrase your sound-quality!

By the way, I don´t like mouse-mixing, but I´m HATING "half and half" with cheap mixers
Lets hope for mackie-control support in version sfp 4.x....

I use Behringer EuroRack UB1204FX-PRO:
http://www.behringer.com/02_products/pr ... X&lang=eng

I'm quite happy with it. I'm almost a newbie but this mixer is what I need: for recording vocals, guitars, or other instruments... it has built in preamps, integrated 24-bit digital stereo FX processor (which i don't think is useful), does not make a lot of noise...

Anyways, since I'm not doing commercial music yet, I don't need an expensive digital mixer... If I see that my little behringer is not enough and good mixer can earn the money I would pay for it back - why not to buy it?

Cheers

Specially since SAC2.2 support pulsar devices!

AND integrate in logic seamlessly also...
