Newbie question: I have a sts program of a string instrument (converted from sf2). It plays monophonically, where I would like it to be polyphonic.
I am using the following (to my knowledge) relevant settings:
poly = 10
mutegroup = off (for all keygroups)
mono/legato = disabled
With these settings I should be able to play chords, right? I cannot even hear two notes simulaneously.
Can someone please explain what I am missing here?
Thanks for your help.

The Poly setting in the main Program window only sets the maximum polyphony for that Program, ie. if you set four your maximum polyphony will be four. This is not the setting of the STS's polyphony, which you can set in the Live Bar the same as synths (in SFP 3.1c) or from the Presets list or the Devices drop-down in Pulsar 2.04 - 3.01.
Thanks for trying to help guys, I appreciate it.
Herr Voigt: yes I can. Assigning two programs, one of which is the 'problem' program to the same midi channel proves that. The 'problem' program plays monophonically and the other one poly.
Tony: you are right and I am aware of that. The #voices (in the lower right corner of the STS entry in the live bar) is set to 16.
I do notice something that might be of use to you experts: when I set the poly to 1 (the poly of the culprit program that is, not that of the STS) the sound gets noticeably less loud. Setting it to two results in a slight flanging sound. Higher values increase the output volume even more. To me this suggests that the program is polyphonic, but with its voices stacked rather than played with 1 voice/note.
Btw the culprit program is called 'Ud' can be downloaded from the following URL: http://www.sumerauer.de/early_patches/d ... wnload.htm. As said before, I tried the sf2 variant.
Thanks for any further assistance!

Hmm... think I've found the cause. The problematic program indeed used up all the polyphony due to stacking sounds. It had over 300 keygroups, yet only 11 wav's...
I wonder whether I've stumbled upon an STS bug when loading sf2 programs. Or would the author of the program have meant it to be this way?
In any case, deleting some 300 keygroups does the trick. I am a happy 'Uddist' now... (I guess players of this type instrument are allowed to play other notes than just 'B', if you know what I mean.)
