I found them here: http://www.veriplus.com/dir_kvm.htm

Did you find any for dual monitor setups? Or shall I leave one monitor at DAW only and use the second one for switching to the internet pc?

I found the monitor switch also. Don't bother with that. You have to switch manually between PCs. And can only use one at a time. Use the CPU switch alone for both DAW and Internet PCs.

You have to buy one Switch either Starview of KVW. It has a VGA, Mouse and Keyboard connection(PS2). The cables come separately with the monitor, mouse and keyboard connection. Get two cables one for each CPU. Cheaper and better than getting two monitors.

I have a monitor svitch for running a Mac and my new notebook PC on the same screen and it is really nice.

One problem though.
I have to have 2 keyboards and mice.
Is there a switch for monitor AND usb?

I'm not sure if the keys and mice are "cross platform" but for now there is no point in even trying.

Atomic, I use one exactly as you described.
I have two pc's and two monitors. The second monitor i have is switched between being used as a second monitor for the DAW and the primary monitor for the server pc.
One mouse and keyboard for the lot though! Very tidy.

Make sure if you get one that you get the good ones. I.E. the ones that switch electronically, not the ones that just use mechanical switches otherwise you risk system lockups and won't be able to use keyboard/mouse system startup up etc.

This is the one I use:-
http://www.rextron.com/html/product/k102.htm

It's very compact, allows instant flickerless switching, keyboard/mouse startup feature on your motherboard still works, and it has been very reliable for me.

Cheers!

Thanks bassdude, I'll have a look at the unit when I get back home (abroad for work now, I'll be back next week). It looks very appealing to me, saving money on monitors and space on the desktop... I think such a unit is the way to go and I'll get my 'old' pc which is set aside now to do the networking...

cheers and take care!

If you have a belkin PS2 KVM switch it works better with the power unplugged!

it gets its power from the jack of computer 1 normally, if it has the external power sometimes it will stop working when you turn off another computer.

I discovered this by accident one day when it screwed up I unplugged it to try and continue working. i noticed it was still on! so i left it like that and the problem has never happened again.

My two Eizo monitors have:

f67) sub15 + RGB
L365 sub15 + DVI

pushing a button on the front switches signal.

Yes there is one. A Data Transfer Switch Box from PC Concepts. Uses the same PS2 cables.
