For anyone who uses the Kenton Control Freak Studio Edition (especially CAleb who raised the subject):
I've got a pile of programmes for the following:
Version 2.nn Sample Players (F,Z etc including the updated ones that give more midi control)
303 - the bright orange fellow
Version 2.nn EZ Synth
Version 2.nn Inferno
Dub Sub
The old Version 2.nn wave players
Three O Three - the funny shaped squiggly one
Dynamixer Pans
Dynamixer Vol/mute
ZS404
Fee Mee

In the pipeline are the Amphetamine, Neutron Micro, Goofy, EDS8i and Inferno Hummel - no timescales on these - I'm trying to write some music too!

If anyone is interested and can tell me how to upload, I'll be only too pleased.
The programs are in midi format, sysexed to the Virtual Control Freak software (available via http://www.kenton.co.uk)

I'm interested Neil, but in trying to do this myself I came across a few problems. None of my "Save with Devices" work. They all bring up error messages saying they can't save to the directory they're in. I have no idea why this occurs.

I have decided there is little point trying to midi up anything with Kenton's Control Freak at this point.

The fact that I can't seem to currently use the Save with Device annoys me and the fact that they removed that functionality altogether frustrates me further still. I might as well get used to tweaking with a mouse.

This is currently the only thing I've found about the Pulsar/Scope platform that has seriously made me consider it a non-professional solution.

I have actually set up a few Control Freak programs to do the Three-0-Three, Hummel Inferno, Hummel BlueSynth, Miniscope MkII and U-KNOW 007. However, I would still be required to link all of this to the actual device on a project by project basis which would have to be ludicrously unproductive.

I know someone was mentioning about having project templates but that really doesn't seem an adequate solution.

Maybe I'll feel more positive about it later on.

I have the Control Freak SE with 4 programmes set up - 1 mixer programme and 3 synth programmes. I have three groups of synths (Bass synths, Pad Synths and Lead Synths), each group being set up to be controlled by either the 1st (controllers 17-32), 2nd (33-48)or 3rd (49-64).

This works great, but reading Caleb's email I realise that I can't find a way of saving new controller setups with my synths in v3 either. Does anyone know whether we can get around this?

Cheers

Caleb, Have you only got version 3 synths 'coz I kept my version 2 ones and renamed them - they co-exist quite happily.

Jez, same answer really - have you got the version 2.nn prior to 3?

MarcusPocus, I haven't heard of CF LIVE - is it a recent version?

If I had one wish that the Creamware fairy godmother would grant - it'd be bringing back the "Save with device". I'd happily wait another 2 months for 3.1 if that came back.

P.s Caleb, the Access 97 database for storing forum notes and any other tips and trick that you may want to look at is ready to roll out - want to be the pilot?
Another one will be ready next week. It's a database of patches and samples where you can add comments, search etc. So, you can be thinking "What was the name of that patch I used for...." etc or "I want a nice sub-bass - which ones have I got and on what synth is it?" and simply look up on screen. It's already populated with a couple of thousand patches by synth - simply add your own comments.

Have a good weekend folks - I'm off into the country for some mountain biking - see you Tuesday

No no, not at all, Control Freak LIVE, is the exact same thing as the Control Freak Studio Edition, but instead of 16 faders, i got 16 knob.... Since my 'more domestic' controler is a 16 fader MIDIBox Plus (DIY project), this seemed a nice combination: 16 faders + 16 knobs + 16 triggers...

cool....

go check on the kenton page http://www.kenton.co.uk and search for a brightg red ControlFreak, that's the LIVE!

Sorry guys, I'm still moping about the controller assignments.

I don't know why it's "devastating" me so much - maybe because I haven't found anything else about the platform to be devastated about.

I keep thinking - surely there's some way around this.

I was thinking of a purely bizarre idea like setting up these streaming midi files from my sequencer with a different controller sent every second after a note and then sit there with the device's screen open and click on each knob or slider directly after each note sounds. I could even record my voice saying which knob to click on next like:

"Oscillator 1 Type" - pause - send controller 1
"Oscillator 1 Course Tune" - pause - send controller 2.

Am I going mad?
I think I'm going mad.
