Hello

I really need your help for my problem and I've search on this forum but nobody seams to have mine...

I was working under Win98SE with my Pulsar I and Cakewalk 9.03 and Sonar 2.0 without problems.
Well my Win98SE was old and there were system's malfunctions. I needed to use big files (more than 2 Gb) and want to install Windows XP.

Important thing, I don't have changed any hardware component...

I have install again my softwares and drivers.
When I've started Sonar for the first time (and Cakewalk 9.03 too) I tried audio files OR midi files (separetly) and there were no problem...

But yesterday I've tried to play audio and midi at the same time.

I have a big problem of synchro, maybe called latency...

I've used WDM drivers of Pulsar, then MME drivers, nothing resolve the problem...

Is it a problem known?
Someone has got the same problem?
If yes can you tell me how to resolve this problem or give me related links where I could find things to resolve it...

I hope I will not install a win98se in case of XP and someone will bring me the way of synchro

Many thanks before...

Most people here use Logic or Cubase in order to use ASIO drivers for less latency.

Yeah , I tried LogicAudio 5 but Sonar Much better for loops and managing audio clips.
For example , with Sonar you can put tempo changes in real time on a audio loop ! and you change in real time the loop's pich too !
What i hate in logic audio is that you cannot do a multiple undo !!!! that's awful ...
In other hand , it's true that the asio driver is the greatest ...
Do you know a way to use asio driver on cakewalk??? It will be great ...

Still believe...

Maxime.

Hello,

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one to have the same problems...

Well at this time news are bad.
I have try under XP and Win2k... No way to find a solution with Cakewalk. No ability to use ASIO drivers.
But when I use those ones with Logic I also have latency problem after a while...

ASIO drivers are better for little tests but not for big projects (I mean: 10 midi tracks and 10 stereo audio tracks).

Then now after instaling XP, Win2k, I have installed again a Win98SE...
I have posted a lot of messages on forums and nobody has find a way and all are waiting for new drivers...

Creamware doesn't respond to my emails then I need to wait and to be patient until creamware release new drivers...

I hope I will receive good news soon (by Creamware or someone of you...)

Cakewalk does not use ASIO drivers. You have to load the correct amount of wave drivers in your project according to the amount of IN/OUT selected in the windows control panel under settings:o. Check the ULLI settings Dreams.

Some of this information might be helpful...

1. Although you upgraded the operating system I didn't see that you upgraded the file system. It's not Windows 98 that supports only 2gb files but the FAT32 File System. If you're upgrading to NTFS you still may have a problem becuase of your MOBO BIOS. Upgrade that to your latest driver.

2. I left the Cakewalk Crowd myself about a year ago. It's a great program and extremely usable. The learning curve on Cubase wasn't too bad but it is different. In using Pulsar/Scope with your system, these Creamware cards haven't jumped on the band wagon for wdm drivers as you require for your Sonar system. I suggest keeping the Pulsar for its synths and trying something like a MOTU product in conjunction with this one if you're looking to stay Pro Audio and use Cakewalk.

3. While doing your upgrade there may be a host of other things that you didn't adjust. They are system tweaks that will improve the quality of your system. Subhuman has posted many of them here and they are extremely popular for new-bees. I know that they sure helped me get started in this new frontier. Follow the advise of those posts and really get your system smoking.

4.If you're savvy enough and large files really are your problem there are several system OS mods that you can get. Check out this article for some advice: http://partition.radified.com/partitioning_4.htm.

Check out this site for a solution:

Lastly, I found this resorce to be helpful on the web in addressing this problem:

Good luck and post it here if these things help you with your problem.
