Sub I know what you are going to say, go intel but heres the deal, I'm thinking of going with a northwood laptop with a magma chassis to run pulsar, giga and cubase for vsti's while using the other comp with a hammerfall for sonar plus have the laptop rig for live use. The sis mutiol is theretically faster than ich2 or v-link. 200mb/s faster. I'm wondering if somone can run sandra or masterverb test on a sis645/650 chipset and see what they get. . . there have to be some users and there are no "pci error" posts for any sis645/650 user. I heard you (sub) say that you get into chipset design, in your opinion is it possible that another company might build a better chipset than intel? Because sis is making the effort to claim that their design is supperior (theretically it is) and I don't see that ne1 has checked it out. just curious really because all benchmarks that I have seen the sis outperforms even i850 when ddr333 is used.

Those magmas really kill your PCI, if you don't use reverb, samplers, and only minimal delays, it should be okay.

Do you know someone who has one? the more I look the problem is you also have to use the pcmcia bus for HD's too. I was thinking that the 650 with a 962 southbridge could use a usb 2 HD allowing a seperate southbridge connection but these don't seem to perform that well. hmmm, I guess I'll go back to plan A, and rack up a real comp. sorry I'm just thinking out loud here. thanks sub,
