Is anyone using gigastudio around here? I'd like to have some comments on how it goes...

The XP/2000 version doesn't seem to work with creamware at the moment. But under 98SE it works fine, but I've never been impressed with the stability of it.

If you're trying to make a purchasing decision I think there are probably better people to ask about Gigasampler, there was like a whole thread about its good and bad points.
I remember reading it but can't find it now, basically what I found is that If you used it all day everyday you'd probably get on average one to two crashes a day. Which would not be so bad but you have to restart to ensure stable working again, and if you work with something like gigapiano you have to wait a little while to load up your samples again. Which compared to a hardware solution or for that matter any of the other software samplers is not ideal.
Also I recently tried a friends copy of Gigastudio, and found it caused random lockups when accessing the hard disk. I promptly de-installed it. Problems went away instantly.

I've been reading discussions on the Giga forums lately and although some users experience instability, many seem to go real fine with it.
I love the STS I use, but I rapidly hit the polyphony limit, and I'd need more dsps plus a sampler upgrade to get to 64 voices and have space for a few effects... So I check the options...
I have worked with Giga previously and I found it difficult to tweak. But it might not be as complicated as it seems once you actually know how it works. The STS has a most well-made interface, but also some limitations that I encounter when I want to increase my orchestrating power...
Giga: up to 160 voices of polyphony, astounding loading capabilities due to the constant HD streaming, 8 sampler layers per prog, 8 stereo output...
I can't overlook those specs even if the soft will not let itself conquer as easily as the STS family, especially considering the type of music that I create...
And that would free my dsps too!

Any other comments?

Nope not really, I mean at the end of the day if it gets the job done, which it has done in the past for me at least. Thats all that matters.
Good Luck

Good point by remixme, so you'd better supply the Giga with it's own disk, which makes sense anyway for a real big library.

Where are these Giga forums?
I'm going to buy Giga Studio soon but I would like to check out some good forums. I've seen a few forums on giga but none are really good. Also anyone using the Garritian Orcestral Strings (GOS). What's it like? I heard all the hype, but how good is it?
Thanks
