Will Kontacky load AKAI samples ? If not, Reasons In built samplers will.
Kontacky (nice slang b.t.w.

) loads AKAI (and EMU and whatelse) but doesn´t sound like an AKAI sampler at all,- also not like a EMU.
I converted a s##tload of AKAI CDs w/ CD-Xtrakt for usage in Halion 2 and later in Kontakt.
Was a nitemare of boring work, possibly waste of time too because they load and you hear a program, but it´s just only the digital sample data in Kontakt´s engine architecture being very different from AKAI hardware.
STS is much better and already when I used Reason 3 and 4,- I loaded and converted AKAI floppy disks using Phead "ReLoad" and it sounded good,- at least better than in Kontakt.
I´d don´t blame Kontakt though ...
When you want to use AKAI samples inside Kontakt it works,- and you tweak the samples and get a result,- but there´s no easy way by simply loading an AKAI "program" incl. samples from whatever drive into Kontakt, then just only play and get what you formerly got when using the hardware sampler.
Lots of editing and time investment neccessary.
That´s why I still own a working AKAI S-1100 and S-1000,- and another actually not working pair for parts.
EMU E64 and 2 Oberheim DPX-1 too.
The real deal sounds best, where "best" might be matter of taste too.
For sure it does for the "programs" they created for multisamples and the original hardware.
