OK. So I've been making music for a year just with my computer and Reason/Acid/Sound Forge. All was well until I decided to take things a step further.
Recently I bought a Luna II (actually Elektra), an Access Virus and Cubase 5.1. Unfortunately, I don't reallly understand how to get everything to work (particularly the ASIO) and I'm VERY frustrated trying to dig through the plethora of documentation and manuals I have.
Here are my problems. Any help with any of these would be really appreciated:
1) Currently, my background Luna project only plays audio through the analog out (I have digital monitors connected to the s/pdif out but they are not receiving any signal).
2) In Windows control panel, I can only select 16-bit sample resolution under multimedida properties for the Creamware Scope device...should this worry me?
3) When I launch Cubase with my Virus turned on and connected to the midi-ports on the Luna (default background project), Cubase crashes almost immediately.
I realize I need to configure everything to work together, but I'm overwhelemed trying to figure out what my first step should be. I have a Cubase file for the virus, and tried to grab the Pulsar definition file for Cubase from this forum (but the link is bad). Anyone have a good starting point for a relatively intelligent but confused individual to start? Right now I feel like scrapping the whole shebang and getting back to just being productive with reason, but I know that's just frustration. Help!
Thanks,
Jess

Ack! In over my head!
well... that´s the same thing with women...All was well until I decided to take things a step further.

i guess you know by reading the manual that you have to treat the project window just as a real studio...? so draw a cable from the cubase output (asio source) to your luna s/pdif out (spdif destiny). if the sync is right, you should be able to hear cubase playing back your tracks.1) Currently, my background Luna project only plays audio through the analog out (I have digital monitors connected to the s/pdif out but they are not receiving any signal).
no, not if you work with cubase and asio. that 16 bit resolution only counts for the normal mme drivers in windows.2) In Windows control panel, I can only select 16-bit sample resolution under multimedida properties for the Creamware Scope device...should this worry me?
turn the virus on later...3) When I launch Cubase with my Virus turned on and connected to the midi-ports on the Luna (default background project), Cubase crashes almost immediately.
