Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Really want to hear some ideas on what might work.
We currently have had a great success with the X32.
But Scope XITE-1 with ADAT Hardware TC Fireworx is noticeably better fidelity.
X32 will become a large IEM mixer, making Scope XLR Analog out to QSC KW181s > QSC KW153s and a pair of QSC-K12s as side fills for the vocalist/dousche bag who doesn't like IEMs, even when they're free.

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
I have used Lemur (https://liine.net/en/products/lemur/) for many different tasks these last few years, it works very well and is stable.
Can be quite complex, and the documentation is a bit scarce, as are tutorials, but even the basic stuff can go a long way.
I just completed a template to control my DSI Evolver desktop, and will try to do one for my Prodissey Klangbox as well (otherwise it's just a dead box).
There's also TouchOsc, which I haven't used in a long time, and MIDIStudio, which is quite good looking, but a bit buggy on my iOS 5.1 iPad...

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
I guess the only way so far to control SCOPE mixers are through midi.
So, even though you can connect things, be aware of the issues with cc-assignments that are introduced once you save your project.

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
I have been using Scope's MIDI for years live to perform.
The only thing I have to do is reload MIDI CC's once the project is loaded.
SpaceF CCx 2's sometimes work w/o a reload, the mixers always work.
With the exception of CC #4 on an Auxillery channel my Scope Mixers
are flawless.

I was using a BCF2000 for years but with the new Physis K4 I have 4 x BCF2000s
at my fingertips, twice the amount of Pedal controllers too.
Scope has been a complete rewarding experience for me.
Bidule has also been a 100% stable bloat free Host.
I simply want to delegate mixing chores like levels only, to an FOH
like we do now using the X32 and a tablet/laptop.
I already program and control the Vocal FX and lighting from the stage.
Hell I launch videos, and also audio clips, automating the fade in/outs
using Scope STM mixers. I prefer the 1632X since it mates really well
with an X32 Rack.
The TC Firworx ADAT FX are the very best sounding FX units so far.
Using ADAT really is easy as the X32 and the XITE-1 are so ADAT
orientated to begin with.
SOme protocols may be behind the times, but at least they work
and gear associated with that are also considered "old" so instead of 1600
Dollars for a TC Fireworx, they are 3-400 Used on ebay.
Old is good in my book...
Just a guy with levels from the STM 1632X is all we need.

TC Data looks awesome!
Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
That looks too good to be true.
So would I then just use tools/GUI parts they provide and assemble them as I need.?
If so I better get busy with this and get an iPad.
We have one already but I prefer having ownership of critical components.
Thanks guys, and Roland hope you're having a blast with your new directions.

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Yes, Lemur, TouchOSC and MDI Studio all work like that: choose the GUI elements, configure them in terms of MIDI channel, port, CC etc, then just touch away.
The TC one looks incredible, but I guess you have to configure "gestures" to create data. Lemur for eg will allow you to build a 1:1 GUI with the controls you need to touch, in a more traditional approach.
BTW I have been using Lemur on an iPad1, which is more than enough. But it'll only take iOS 5, so most of the apps are suspended in a 2012 state
If you can get hold of an iPad2, you'll get iOS7 at least, as well as twice the RAM and a beter CPU. I generally feel that the iPads are overpriced, so old 2nd hand works for me.

You make one's mouth water ! Come on !
Would it be possible to ask to someone to film your performance ?
Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Actually I had to turn my Keyboards / rack at a 90 degree angle facing my Drummer since the
events coordinators (new name for agents) wanted videos.
So I'd say after the Biker Rally, 6-8,000 people, there should be something I can share.
NO biggie really, I did the same thing 30 years ago as I do now.
Difference is I had a hardware sequencer called the QX-1, now I use a softie and do everything live, so there is a slight improvement in skill sets. But I haven't really added anything extra besides newer, better hardware and the XITE-1.
It is cool though to see your FOH walking amongst the people making adjustments.
I really like wireless connectivity.

Not a wireless solution, but you can just add a touch screen to your win 8 machine, then use ScopeSync or CTRLR to control scope devices

TCData is pretty sexy, and a very deep app.
I have it, but haven't had time to sort out how to get it interfaced to Scope.

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Thanks Dawman,
I'm doing well here. Enclosing new sonic world makes me a very happy man
I love the new challenges and research thing.
I placed the TC-Data here because it is a different way to interact with your music gear.
I use different apps to control Kyma.
http://kyma.symbolicsound.com/kyma-control-for-ipad/
And you have to practice this much because it is like learning to play an instrument.
The TC-Data controller will add much more expression to f.i. the Modular IV.
I used to play the Mod IV with a Behringer BCR 200.
This app can morph more than you have fingers.
But next Friday I use the Behringer 200 again in Brussels.
More a mind thing than physical performance. With visual arts from Karin Schomaker.

Siriusbliss, you just run it by midi cable into your Xite. f.i.

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
I already have the iConnect on order.
Many I/O apps such as MusicIO and AudioIO are available apps for interfacing that do not require an aggregate device. So if I can get any of these to work, then I may forego the IConnect and use Mimix app instead.
TouchOSC and TCData are just too time consuming to get setup the way I need for live session work.

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
TC Data looks very interesting, but it also looks very controller intensive, so I wonder if it would actually work as intended with Scope with more than only a few controlelrs.
The known cc-assignment saving problems aside, I've noticed that if you run 5-10 cc controllers continously midi notes starts to be skipped and midi timing lag becomes a really big issue.
The only real option for these kinds of controllers at the moment is Scope Sync and BC-modular - Hopefully we will get OSC in Scope soon so we can gain decent controller access to Scope's many great synths!

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Dante, I just picked up one of those last month. The price has come down. Seems like a well thought out and durable interface although the 30pin connector seems a bit flimsy if you consistently insert and remove the ipad it may cause problems. So far working fine. Not sure if they will make a lightning interface version, nothing in the que apparently.dante wrote:Behringer iStudio iS202, TB Midi Stuff and Lemur here :

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Also using a Behringer iS202, had it for a week or so... How have you guys been getting along with it?
The features are quite clever, but I'm not really impressed with the sound and performance, though... MIDI is OK, but for audio, if I have Lemur open and try to play Animoog, for eg., I get a lot of crackles in the output. Whatever app I want to play, it needs to be the only thing running on the pad...
However, this is a 1st gen iPad, so it could be due to a lack of resources, but it could also be a faulty iS202, that's why I was asking...

Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Well i would suspect it's the 1st gen ipad. Mine is a 2 or 3 i think and I have been very careful not to load it up. I've been using the Z3TA+,IVCS3, SEM,Wavemapper and Nave and they seem like very hefty, intensive apps. (the reason I suspect this is the ipad surface gets very warm when they are open) I make sure everything else is closed. I haven't had any performance issues yet with the iS202 interface. I use the usb midi through copperlan.
Re: Android or iPhone Apps that can control Scope Mixers
Thanks for answering. Do you run all those synths at the same time? If so, that looks promising... I'll have a 2nd Gen iPad in a week or so to try out. At the very least I'll be getting out of iOS 5
