Eq questions

Post by JoPo »

I'd like to ask to big knowledge people here.

In a peak eq filter, there is the Q knob which changes the slope, right ? There is always a value with it. But I have never seen any unit of this value. So my questions are :

1) What unity is for this value ?
2) Is it a standard unity, in other words : do ALL peak eq filter of ALL eqs use the same unity and the 'slope value' of eq X means the same for eq Z ?

Thanks a lot for feeding my knowledge ! :)

Thanks a lot for all this, Mr atOm !

If I understand well (at least, I try), a lot of eq are wrong !

Q is for 'Quality' filter and is NOT the bandwidth ! But there is a mathematical relation between.. phew !

About my question, I guess it's not a standard unity between eqs as even on a Avalon EQ, it's wrong !
