How to test Zlink without Zlink-IO-boxes?

Hey, there!

I sell a Z-Link plate here in "Purchase and trade". It is working properly at ADAT side with a Pulsar2. But I do not own Zlink IO-Boxes just ADAT ones. To be absolutely sure selling an working zlink plate, I' plan to test it. At the time I see and can add the Zlink IO modules to my scope project. May I can playback something to Zlink Outs, then bypass both Zlink interfaces with a firewire cable and put, for example, a small scope mixer in between to control the output, or playback the signal as stereo pair at Analog Outs, SPDIF or ADAT DA... Would it work ?

Cheers, Andreas

Bypassing the ADAT ports (ADAT Destination and ADAT Source) with an optical cable works fine. See attached picture. Still afraid to do it with electrical Zlink/Firewire bypass...

Should it works like this? Or I'm going to fire up the firewire like Z-Link interface with a bypass? Note: The floppy power connector on the Z-Link/ADAT plate is not connected at the time.

Yes, I'm also scary about the consequences... It works at the software site, so there is no premise for hardware failure, I think.

well, there's power on the z-link line. that's my only concern.

I think somebody once tried to hook up two Luna cards through Z-link and fried the Z-link and/or the card.
