Should I use a patchbay?

Hi all,

Perhaps not the best place to ask, but here goes...

I have a question about combining a focusrite Penta with a patchbay. I was wondering since I recently bought a Focusrite Penta how to set it up?

As you probably know the Penta has 16 awesome presets to give punch to your mix. However since there are 16 presets for many different purposes I don't want to use it only for the end mix since I also want to use these presets.

Is it wise to get me a patchbay in order to use it on the inserts of my desk so I can switch easily between those presets? Or is there another way to use it in an easy way for several purposes?

I hope this is the right forum to ask this question since I couldn't find a Focusrite forum.

Cheers

a patch bay is very useful if you plan to do a lot of repatching.however, you will lose some sound quality sooo-make sure to use the highest quality wire for your interconnects(pricey)and choose a hardwired tt or bantam bay.(okay use a cheap n easy bay if you must but still use good cable.)only minor repatching probably would be better to patch directly.

So if I understand correctly it is wise to get me a patchbay to use the focusrite (and other gear ie. fx processors) on. Thus enabling me to easily connect to several groups or individual channels on my board.

It's to bad there aren't any more I/O's on the focusrite. I think this should enable you to connect different groups to the Fcusrite and give you more control over the mix.

Oh, by the way I already have custom made cables made in an earlier studio setup. These cables where very $$. Only problem is I think they are too short. Have to find a way to place the patchbay strategically in my studio.
