ADAT Problems

Post by mixedmindz »

Hi All,
new to the forum, and setting up a new build with my old Pulsar 1.0
I upgraded to 5.1 and got installed quick enough.

I went out and bought a beringer ADA8000 8in8out ADAT box.

I plugged it in with optical cables.

And I get 8 channels of the ADAT A IO module putting out varying levels of the highest freq squeel

I also don't understand why it the ADAT-A has 16 Channels when I thought it should be 8.
I also don't get why there is no ADAT-B as there is two ADAT interfaces on the card.

I've tried swapping cables, changing the sync switch on the ADA8000, always the same.

Note, once I've plugged in the ADAT-A channels to the mixer, even if I turn off the ADA8000 the high pitch squeel remains.

HELP!!!! THNX

On a pulsar 1 the adat ports are not callesen a and b in pairs of eight but just straight 16.
Did you connect both Adat cables to the behringer? And is clock set right? There can only be one master.

I just tested and even with the fiber unplugged,
reloading the ADAT Source module
I still get the same sound on each channel.

I had the ADA8000 box set to Slave/ADAT IN

Thanks for your help.

so without ANY adat cable plugged in, you get noise? then, sadly, its the pulsar card that is broken i think:(
