Talkback Scope mixers

Post by fraz »

Hi,

Been looking into the talkback feature of the STM mixers - 2448 has this from what I can see.

The 1632 mixer doesn't have this from what I can see - Is this a no no then for the 1632?

On the STM 2448 the Mon L Mon R is the output used for the talkback - Is it correct of me to think that a stereo mix passes through the mon L mon R outs??

check the manual.

the monitor section has whatever mix that is used in the mixer's monitor volume control on each channel.

another way to get a talkback mic is to send a channel to the monitor section, but disable the channel in the main mix(green button towards the bottom of the channel).

Hi,

Just had a mess with the Stm2448 in a little more detail and can see from the channels box like you said the levels for the monitor output can be set for all the channels so you can customise a mix for someone recording. Just need a pointer sometimes..... :) ........
It is this Mon L Mon R output that would feed the headphone amplifer when I get it!!!

EDIT:

Given more thought to this and have worked out in theory what i can do with the 1632 and 2448 mixers for this. My aim is to keep things simple as it is only a little home recording setup with a Scope system!!! - will be ok with this.... ....honest...!

actually, home recording uses all the same elements as in a real studio. anything you learn about your gear makes it easier for you to do what you want to do, when you say, "hey! if i could just..." or "i have an idea, let's...". you know, so that the gear doesn't get in the way, but rather is a tool that responds to your wishes...

it's cool to ask!
the reason i mention the manual, is that it's really good for that sort of thing, specific questions about what knobs do what and how this or that works. the manual sucks for reading like a novel, but it's pretty decent documentation of the stock devices. it definitely wasn't a RTFM, nooooob! :)
