I hope this is not the wrong place, I have had Scope (Creamware) since 1997 so feel this might be of interest.
The note pad in Scope is rather small, I have invented some new editing software with lots of separate editors, it is a zoomable user interface with many text editors (also images soon), it is just out on v1.1 for Windows and Mac now, Linux is coming when I get the time. It is a portable desktop and everything saves in one file.
It is free, a few people here on Planet Z have used it already, and I have even put in a Scope panel for music uses, in the 'Top 10 uses' page.
