Hi
I have inherited a Pulsar 2 card and a Pulsar XTC card.
I downloaded the new version of scope, the drivers will only install with the pulsar 2 card, if the XTC is installed then i get error about SRAM, maybe it could reset the DSPs. If i take the XTC out then the drivers install ok.
a few thoughts, :
the XTC is faulty --> Possible but I think the other options are more likely.
Resource Conflict --> No conflicts in device manager, but from what I've read, might need to change the Hal or tweak some stuff ( btw I don't really need advice on HALS thanks, I've been working in tech support for 10 years, I'm just not concerned with using the second card right now)
Cable is connected wrong -> Happens all the time, with a multitude of devices and the simplest things are normally the cause!
anyway, I'm going to leave the XTC out of the PC for now, to keep things simple.
Okay so scope 5 wants a serial number, fair enough people should be paid for their work.
Is there an older version I can use and not pay for? I would be quite willing to pay for scope 5, but want to actually use the old version first to see the I would actually use the card. + surely the person I inherited from was entitled to use some version of software otherwise the card wouldn't have been much use.
Years ago my first port of call would have been looking for cracked versions, but as the years have gone on I stay away from that as I have more respect for the idea of paying for peoples work, and from the practical point of view that the retail versions normally work the cracked ones quite often have problems. I don't use any cracked software now and haven't done for a number of years. Given the competitive upgrade offers the better companies offer, it is generally a false economy.
I have a CD but it will only install on windows 98, now I could install windows 98 and dual boot, but would rather not for a few reasons. The hassle of repairing the XP bootsector so many things I use in XP all time, I think I would boot back to XP after 5 minutes and give up on the pulsar very quickly.

Re: Inherited Pulsar II Cards
Hi there,
Here's the latest version you should be able to use for free: ftp://sonic-core.net/software/SCOPE_Fam ... .0_for_PC/
Just to check, are you joining the two cards with an STDM cable? http://www.sonic-core.net/shop/product_ ... Kabel.html
Thanks,
Will

Hi will,
thanks for the reply yes it is joined via an STDM cable, i checked your picture. Looks kinda like the old 5 1/4 floppy connectors but less pins. I will put the other card back in later and have a play and see what I come up with.
thanks for the link to the software, I'm checking that now!

Re: Inherited Pulsar II Cards
i have downloaded the software, and the driver installs ok. what do I do about the key? I have a key written down with manual but it doesn't appear to work?
regarding the XTC card, I would also have to situate the two cards next to each other and am a bit worried about shorting them, any ideas?

Re: Inherited Pulsar II Cards
email sonic-core include your hardware serial numbers...... this should be on a printed label on the cards. And request a key file for the software.... scope 4 .
then just wait till the keymaster gets em back to ya.
import the file ..... et violin.... you are ready to go

Re: Inherited Pulsar II Cards
I remember you from Gearslutz, glad to see you got one of your cards running. It's easy to get addicted to this SCOPE stuff and need more and more dsp power so beware
, your pockets may regret you ever inhereted those cards
.. The 5.0 upgrade has some of the best plugins out here in it. With your 6dsp card add 5.0 and you can get a choice of "Synths 'n' Samplers pack" or "Mix 'n' Master pack". Both packs are great but i believe the synths pack has no equal out here, it comes with Minimax, Vectron, Profit 5, Modular 3, B2003 Organ all of wich are great plugins. 5.0 also comes with the LX reverb bundle wich has a amazing chorus-delay plugin included. The 5.0 upgrade has many other nice plugins aswell all for 198euro wich makes it the best bargain out here for many high-quality plugins. Then there's the Windows 7 O/S drivers and under-the-hood work. I know your not ready to purchase anything and just looking to get your feet wet right now, i just was letting you know why 5.0 is VERY significant.

Re: Inherited Pulsar II Cards
hey whats up sounddesigner.
i am awaitng the keymaster response.
i think whether i buy 5 or not is going to rest on whether i can integrate it into my setup. i used to be purely software based, now I'm MPC based. BUt quite often go back to software and produce something in all software. Having just bought a few items at the moment, such a 16channel board, and acquired a M/Audio Fire 410 which has 8 outs, i was possibly going to use the 8 outs with reason. I am hopefully going to try and bridge the gap (for me) between the MPC and software.
Where the pulsar fits in? who knows i shall find out when i get the keys.

integrating systems is what Scope does better than anything else available.
