What is new in Scope 5 ?
What is new in Scope 5 ?
I'm asking... My sytem is very stable with Scope 4.5... So I'm wandering if it's a good idea to update with 5.0... What is new in 5.0 ? New devices ? If there is no new device, I really don't find any reason to update. So ?
Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
Not much answer... Must I deduce that there is nothing new ?

scope 5.0: new reverbs comps and eq's

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
Ah !
Yes ? Ok... Mmmm I think it is not enough for me to update : I use very good plugs of reverb, comp and eq's... And I'm a big lazybones... No new synth ?

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
JoPo,
This is a Release Candidate, so I think it's a bit early to know what will be in the final version. We just won't know until it gets finished.
There are no new synths that I know of. The biggest advantage will be code optimizations and new drivers, including compatibility with newer OSs.
I would recommend staying on V4.5 until they have finished with the Release Candidates, since you have a functioning system. That will be a better time to determine whether the optimizations amount to an improvement for you (in stability, overall DSP load, and polyphony in particular), and whether the new devices (whatever they may be in addition to the new EQs, etc.) are useful for you.
Cheers,
Cory

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
They integrated the ssl 9x series from das which rock. And they integrated the plate and the chorus delay from timeworks which rock pretty hard .That alone is worth it for me.
Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
v5 is a complete rewrite. it's all new.
v4.5 works pretty well, so stay with it if you like, but while the gui looks pretty much the same, v5 is a different program all together.

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
Hi all,
Long time no see. Been preoccupied with so much that haven't had time to visit this or any other forum.
I too am curious about Scope 5.
4.5 is for me still a bit unpredictable. Minor bugs here and there. I still haven't fully got to grips with XTC as much as I would like to, though it could be my fault for not investing enough time and energy into it. But when things need to get done, my priorities say stuff it.
Is it worth trying out the Release candidate (beta)?
Will XTC work any better with that?
Can it be installed alongside 4.5?
Any other things I should have asked?
Thanks

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
more plugins - all of which I find to be very good, including the SSL.
Atze and Prophet 5 synths (at least they came with Xite V5
) - I'm actually really diggin' the Atze synth.
IME faster bootup of projects and some other apparent fixes with re: to presets and controller handling.
AFAIK it IS possible to run 4.5 and 5 concurrently, so I would say just download it into it's own folder and test it out for yourself using your system configuration and see what happens.

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
vdat doesn;t work, and the wave source and dest have probs, i can't get soundforge to work, (non asio) while cubase 5 is open, , i might have to reinstall soundforge (i usually record in that if vdat doesn't work)
its a little buggy, but cool, (vinco's release can't go lower than 100 , but in 4.5 you can punch the release on the comp down to 1 (if you enter it manually)

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
I took my decision... I'm waiting for my allready ordered Xite-1 (it should arrive in 2 or 3 weeks)... I'll try Scope 5 with it. I know that it is possible to run Xite & old scope on the same pc linked with adat, midi, analog, any i/o and I'll try that. I just hope that I'll not spend hours, days, weeks for all those things to work (I remember my beginning with Creamware !)...
I guess I improved myself with computers and S/C also...
The S/C registration told me that the 3rd part plugs need to be registered with the new hardware but I believe that if I keep Scope 4.5 or even 5 (I allready have the keys for it), I'll still have the possibility to use them on the old hardware and also on the new with its new keys. Is it right ? (I'm asking to people wich understand what I say and wich also have a Xite-1...)
Merci...

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
Any new devices that you want to run on Xite will need their own key.
Current Scope PCI devices that are keyed to current boards will not run in Xite (unless you move the key to Xite).
Scope PCI and Xite environments are NOT interchangeable (but can run at the same time).
Latest news from Ralf is that STDM cabling between Xite and PCI cards may be too long for the protocol to work, so STDM between the two may not be possible <boohoo>.
Someone has come up with a XTC workaround - but I haven't tried it (I don't use XTC).
Latest V5 driver has many DSP optimizations built in.

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
Thanks...
I don't use XTC either. But my question is : ok, my 3rd part plugs keyed in pci board will not run in xite unless I move the keys to xite : I'll move them to Xite, of course ! But when it is done, am I right to believe that they will still run on the pci boards ? I can't guess how it is possible they stop running as soon as I ask to move them keys to xite. So I believe I'll keep the 3rd part plugs in pci boards AND I'll have the new keys for xite... Right ? Pci board and xite will not run with the same environment but on the same pc and both with 3rd part plugs.
Please ! Tell me I'm right !

Right, if devices are keyed to PCI, then they stay with PCI unless you request they move over to Xite.JoPo wrote:Thanks...

After the keys are moved to Xite, they will no longer run on PCI.
I'm currently keeping PCI keyed devices on PCI, and new devices are being keyed to Xite (mostly synths now).
Xite comes with STS samplers and other mixers/effects that I originally bought and keyed to PCI over the years. Many of them are now native to Xite with Scope 5 (i.e. mixer bundle, etc.).
My current plan is to build up Xite for tracking (including synths, etc.) - eventually on a laptop, and then continue to do mixdown on PCI.

Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
I can't believe it... How is it possible ? How the pci hardware may guess that its keys are no longer the good ones ? If you keep the old keys with the old hardware, I can't conceive that the plugs will not run anymore like this, as with a blow of magic wand !siriusbliss wrote:

Are you 100% sure of that ?
Re: What is new in Scope 5 ?
I believe that the process of a key transfer is, that you get a file, which removes the key from the original hardware product.
This file then generates a new file which tells Ralf, that you have indeed done as promissed.
Then you get a new key for the product you want to transfer the plug-in to.

Do you believe or do you know ? Believing is not enough for my rationnal way of thinking...Immanuel wrote:I believe that the process of a key transfer is, that you get a file, which removes the key from the original hardware product.

But, ok, if they tranfer the keys in this way, now, I may understand that it will not work anymore on the pci boards after the keys transfer. Thank you oohoobooh...
So we must make the choice between keeping the keys for pci or transfering the keys to xite... Fortunately, just for the 3rd part plugs !!
Thank you all...

To siriusbliss !! If you are around...
I went to soundclick to see what it is... So I made an account and upload some music... Is it a good web site ? It looks like an another one where I put my music some years ago which lost ALL its data in a huge DD crash ! Its name was Besonic... I hope this one is more serious..!
I have some questions if you don't mind... Is there a lot of people in Soundclick ? From wich country is it ? How old is it ?
Thanx !

I've had very good luck with Soundclick. Not as popular as MySpace, but a lot less politics, and just as good for music preview and distribution.JoPo wrote:To siriusbliss !! If you are around...
