In spite of all the strangeness that followed him around, I can honestly say he put on the best live pop performance I ever saw.
St,Louis was proud as we had Sheryl Crow singing back ups and Patrick Leonard on Keys before Madonna snagged him, and the 256 channel NED was such an awesome instrument to hear live back then even if it was only 16bit.

RIP MJ. Arguably the greatest singer of all times. Some had thriller sales at 50 million and some at over 70, i don't know exactly what the numbers where for sure but all seem to agree it was the biggest selling album of all times, coupled with other huge albums, awards , domination of charts and popularity/fan-love, etc he has a VERY strong arguement. Even near future concerts in London where sell-outs. Despite the bad things many people thought of him in recent years he has made huge contributions to the Music-world and again is arguably the greatest of all times.

R.I.P Michael Jackson, you truly where amazing and Great.

I am not easily impressed with live performances since I have seen 55 Gallon Drums full or flash powder, and live quad from Pink Floyd.
I've seen Emerson levitate off of the stage, Madonna's excellent choregraphy from the '90's,
David Bowie's 69thStreet show, in other words many great shows.
But I never seen such a hypnotized crowd, including me, in my entire life, and I doubt I ever will again either.
He commanded the entire audience and moved with no wasted movements, just the cockiest front man I had ever seen, and if that wasn't enough when he moonwlked we had never seen anything like that, it was magical. People cried, and I actually remembered how my babysitter and her girlfriends cried when they watched the Beatles.
We are way past that kind of surpise these days.
I even remember when the Billie Jean video came out on MTV our whole neighborhood gathered at the corner Pub as if it were the Superbowl.

It seems like Quincy Jones made him so huge and after he stopped working with Quincy, his albums sucked. My theory is that Quincy finally asked to make equal to what Michael was making and Michael refused.

I did'nt care for much of Michael Jacksons music in recent times but even at his low points he still was a platnum selling artist and still had a good fan base overseas. Many still loved his music and him. I remember hearing complaints he had that one of his recent albums only sold 2 Million copies , many other entertainers would kill to have 2 Million sold but for MJ that was a low point. I don't think Quincy Jones had anything to do with Michael Jacksons album 'Dangerous' wich was the second greatest selling album of all times .

I can say I'm Jealous of those who did get to see him perform (Jimmy).

Seems to me that his catalogue reveals more talent & musical substance much more than your typical pop act might, more than just a product of the productions alone--how many years of my childhood had his marks in them? And the stuff from his childhood, wow. At that age I was still getting used to having left my preschooler ukulele for the training wheels of an inexpensive electric guitar, far more learned in comics & toys than I was in music. Even the his later 'more mature' phase the musical ideas & finesse in expression will always catch my ear, even though the music is less to my taste than the earlier stuff was.

I'm willing to give Respect & wish him luck with the rest of his journey.

He's immortal. Just try Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' or Billie Jean - there's no dancefloor that won't move on those. Admittedly, his cooperation with Quincy Jones were huge successes, but after Michael there's no kid who's done anything of the scale Ben, or anything that comes close.

I was looking so forward to see what he was going to do to remind the world of his phenominal talent with his upcoming tour, I can only imagine that he would have outdone the rest once again.
When he had the problems with children at his ranch etc., I believe that was a scam and really caused him grief.
He was weird because he never was allowed to be a child. His father was, and still is a Ball buster. The poor guy cried on his first visit to Disney world, he actually bought the park for the day and paid for thousands of unfortunate and sick children to enjoy the time of their life. So the whole debacle of him being a child lover was mis contrued IMHO.
His father has been here in Vegas forever, and hasn't done much lately but in the late '80's I was in all an girl Korean band called the Dae Han Sisters that was live Hip-Hop with some really talented girl performers that had the best choreography in town. We had the best dancers and choreographers coming by everynight just to watch these girls, and Joe Jackson worked their tails off.
We were so well paid and so well managed we knew our shedule 2 years in advance and only had 4 weeks off. So during our breaks the girls were being being whipped by the old man at least 3 out of the 6 nights.
The FOH and I were so happy we didn't have to rehearse on our breaks, but always toasted the gals from the bar....
This was a long time before the internet, but I managed to find our drummer in a pic from a big Beverly Hills doctor party we played with all of the usual Hollywood freak show folks.
Phil Spector and other weirdos actually follwed these gals around trying to get them to hang out, but old man Jackson watched them like a Hawk and ran off all of the freaks.

It appears Quincy Jones did have a small hand in the album Dangerous. I read he recommended the producers for the Album (At the address i posted earlier). It sold over 32 Million but Wikipedia does not have it at second place in 'The greatest selling Albums list'. Below is the link to the greatest selling albums of all times list. MJ does have many albums spanning several categories with Thriller at number one with no close second place from any other artist. And some old albums still sell large amounts yearly this day, and i imagine since he just died that the sells for his old albums will only rise.
