Another one about core2 duo problems...

Post by duet-music »

Hi guys,
What is overclocking and how to avoid it? I have problems with my core2duo processor - the system freezes from time to time. I have filtered active sensing and Scope does not share any IRQ with other devices but still... Sometimes system freezes.
Any ideas? :x

If you haven't any idea what overclocking is, you've already avoided it! :D

The first things to check are:

IRQ sharing (found via device manager, you can post the list here for help).

CPU & system temperatures, voltages & other 'sensor' readings, try using Lavalys Everest (there is a demo version). For extra credit you can try running memory & cpu stability tests to determine if the system is the issue or if it's really a problem with Scope.

Is your Scope card seated properly and are all contacts clean?

do you have a lot of USB devices attached?
you may need to try the selective suspend trick.

How much power does your Power Supply deliver to your system?
