It'll work with USB Spec Revision 1.0 or higher, so you shouldn't have any problems.

In the case of USB I think manufacturers have to meet the specifications laid down by some kind of USB standards authority (not sure what it's called), so for the meantime all products with USB still have to support rev 1.0 upwards.

If you're sure you want to go with Edirol, the UM-1EX seems like more of a portable solution for laptop users on the move, so unless that's what you need it for I'd go with the UM-2EX. The UM-3EX is what I'd buy if you can afford the xtra 30 euro because they can be daisy-chained to give you a 9in/9out midi interface. That just means that if you wanted to expand, you wouldn't need to worry about changing your interface or using another separate USB connection.

I have not problem for extra midi because i have the Roland A-880 midi patcher.
The question is if the UM1 have more function or if the UM2 is the follow of UM1.
So I prefer to buy UM1 with only 1 midi in and 1 midi out if it have more function.
If UM2 is the follow of UM1 I prefer to buy this interface so I can have 2 midi out
The price is the same!!! This is strange
