yes, to both.
i believe dfi would be a good manufacturer to check. gigabyte also makes such a motherboard, but some users have reported problems. perhaps current bios revisions have fixed the problems....

I was the one with the gigabyte board..no dont do it. the board itself is fine. made great and reliable but USB IRQs spread all over the place you cant escape sharing USB with scope which is bad news
go for the intel (ask someone i forget the name) or supermicro C2SBE. my supermicro has been great now with selective suspend turned off, and a few other tweaks.
i thought i killed it once thats when i bought the gigabyte, then i got another CS2BE oops same problem!
Turns out it was in a reboot cycle because of the "boot from usb" settings and my spectralis did not get on too well
well duh for me now i have a spare :D and a spare gigabyte one as well. thats going in a HTPC

However if you have a USB midi or something like virusTI. i would still recommended giving scope its own box and running the sequencer and all your USB stuff on a different machine

my sequencer machine is a very cheap asus P5K-vm m-atx with a low end xeon quad core CPU and E-MU 1212m card (the cheapest thing i could find with ADAT) I can send 8 channels digital directly to scope cards and back for fantastic sound! (higher than 48k, might need to look eleswhere)
(not using the E-MU onboard ad/da at all yet till i get desperate for another input!)
E-MU ASIO and midi are also very fast and the thing hasn't given me any trouble at all.

Hi,

There isn't many modern motherboards with more than 3 PCI. The only one I found was:

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Mot ... uctID=2729

I read the manual and I think you can assign IRQ in the BIOS. I know many people have had problems with gigabyte boards. It's cheap and I will be trying it out in the next 2-3 weeks. I will keep you posted.

Please let me know if it works. This looks like the one I'm going to get if I can't find a DFI board.
