Is "Standard PC" mode mandatory ?

Windows 2000/XP install initially in ACPI mode
in which PCI cards are all set to use IRQ 9.
This can negatively impact system performance. (Clicks and Pops)
We recommend switching to "Standard PC" mode.

Is this still an issue in 4.5 ?
Does 4.0 or 4.5 ver. supports quad core ?
I assume, Standard PC means No Multithreading No Multi Core .

Any idea ?

I think I've some problems with my two Pulsar cards on the new DAW with DFI Infinity dark-S Motherboard and a Q6600 CPU.
The same problems due to IRQ sharings as I had on previous DAW in ACPI mode (resolved passing to PC Standard Mode).

I didn't make till now to change IRQ and impose a private one for the two Pulsars.
So, I was wandering about different Win XP modes:
PC standard: does a Multicore CPU still work as it should iunder this mode?
MPS Multiprocessor: What's this mode? Similar to ACPI Multiprocessor.. but NOT ACPI and more similar to Standard PC (but Multicore support). Or is for physical multi processor on boards, as for XEON CPU's??

I tried to convert my actual Win XP config to those two modes, but after initial conversion, the system didn't make to restart at following reboot. Don't know what went wrong.
(So I used my backup to rebuild in a few minutes the previous working OS).

Before trying to install them from scratch I would like to know if they work with a Q6600 multicore CPU aa in ACPI mode.
Any here know the answer?

XP does not usually need to be in standard pc. 2000 might.

It means that it works to run Scope Home or Project ver. 4.0 or 4.5
on multi core machine without Standard Pc mode and with No Pop and Clicks ?

Does anyone runs in ACPI mode on multi core system without probs?

I wish creamware/sonic core would address this dark matter .....

yes, it's possible.

My PC won't even install XP in Standard mode, just locks up when doing it's HAL bit. ACPI runs absolutely fine with no clicks or pops.

well, i'm using Standard PC mode just cause of freezes on one from 2 computers , where i have cards installed, that saved me some time ago,
but i guess it should work normal in multi mode, i was suspicious to one of my cards, that won't work normal in multi mode, so Standard PC is my way to go, no freezes or anything similar.

in fact i was much experiencing problems with my asus p4800delx mobo in acpi.
also with abit ic7mobo

now with my gigabyte 965p chpiset and conroe cpu, i only use acpi.
no probs.

but i still wonder why in standard pc i never had a freeze even if i used multiple midi configurations without any filter
