third party keys

Post by Neutron »

Is every single key ever registered to a card, even if it is from a third party, shown in the allkeys? i just seem to remember a few odd ones like early bowen and (cant remmeber its name i bought an orbitone one) the keys came seperately.

anyways if there are keys floating about for my cards is there any way to find out?

3rd party keys would be difficult to recover if lost, or not depending on the 3rd party and the relationship to soniccore. i would always make an extra copy of my scope.rgy to be sure of having ALL my keys. Soniccore will likely(i can't verify this, you'd have to ask Ralf) have keys for plugins purchased through the shop.

some 3rd party plugins use other protection methods, these won't be in the scope system keyfile, these will be in whatever folder the developer intended it to go in. only that developer will be able to tell you what the original key was. here's a place that backups would definitely help....

other 3rd party developers etch the purchaser's name into the device, so that if there are multiple devices found floating around the world, the offender can be named..in this case, you may or may not be able to get another copy of the plugin, if it was lost, from the developer.

how did you handle protection? it seems that you offered the plugs for free, but there were some you charged for, no?

well i backed up MY scope folders on to a CD but those old keys would only work with the cards i sent away, and not with the new ones..BTW i have "36" on dsp meter. 2 used for memor whatever.

thats 14 more than before AND i have additional p1 on a different PC for experiments. (mechanical synth controller :D )

gotcha. if the old owner didn't pass everything on to you, it's lost. :)

-btw when i asked how you did it, i meant protection of devices for sale...

i sent them to creamware and they ignored me in th order they received my devices.

i had one synth that was very fine, i signed that i couldnt release it , then they never did either.. lots of work for nothing, the predecessor to the "transplanet" never released :(

If you've got important stuff, you'd like to recover, maybe you could contact the person you sold your DP card to and ask if you could rent it for a week?

Seems things are a lot better now than back then with Zarg, space f, Adern, Sur-Audio Lab, brainworx and others being represented on the site and in the shop.

i remember you working on your first commercial synth then everything going quiet. This time i think things should be very different.

I am pretty sure, that the contract is individual and does not follow with the card. However, the option to sell devices has been offered to SDK owners earlier on.
