it should work just fine. all nvidia cards from any manufacturer use the same driver, so you just want to avoid a poorly made card. i always buy EVGA, but Asus is a plenty reputable card. go ahead, but actually, you could probably get a cheaper model(7300) and be just as happy as long as gaming isn't your primary objective...

yes, the 7600 passively cooled was my favourite, too - it's around 160 Euro here, which is a fair price imho.
but since gaming wasn't a concern I took the 6200/256 for 60 Euro :D

never had an NVidia before, but the supporting software looks very nice - you can adjust a lot of things (if you like), but you don't have to... I second that kind of 'under'statement.
Possibly you may have to check if the digital video connectors are available in Dual Screen Mode (on the cheaper models) - some switch to analog then and require an adapter.

cheers, Tom

of course, the 7600 isn't a cheapo... ;)
[later] oops, I forgot to mention the context - afaik the restriction about the DVI connectors seems to apply only to certain wide screen resolutions, like 1680x1050 (which was my concern).

cheeers, Tom

the MSI NX7600GS-T2D256EH is passive cooled, has 256mb ram, dual dvi and is 99 eur here. a GT card is probably not necessary.
I'd somehow prefer the matrox, nevertheless, if they weren't that much more expensive...

well, sounds like bang for the buck.
take care of the airflow, though.
